    How many?

How many of our current squad do you think are good enough for a post investment Rafa?

    For me it´s:

    Reina
    Finnan
    Carra
    Agger
    Hyypia
    Gerrard
    Alonso
    Momo

The rest will IMHO be improved upon in the next 2-4 years.

There is no way Rafa will ditch all his strikers in one go, I reckon only Robbie will go this year actually, and I'd be surprised to see more than a winger and 1 striker added to the current squad this year, it is not an unlimited pot of gold to revamp the whole squad you know.

I personally think both Kuyt and Bellamy are good enough. We need a regular goal scorer though.

Problem is who can we buy? There are not many about.

I’d go for all of those except Hyypia, considering that he’s just bought Marcherano he should be included to the list as well. I’d also stick Bellamy & Kuyt in there.

                Yes, Macherano should be there.

I tend to just look at who would make the Man U team, and none of our current strike force would.

I still expect the three strikers to be here, we are only 1 striker short of having a top notch set-up of striking possibilities.

Finnan and Hyypia will be gone in two to four years obviously.

Edit: so basically I don't really understand the idea behind this.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Hyypia and Fowler are coming to the end of superb careers. Dudek is probably going to be surplus to requirements. Kewell should be sold if we get a window when he is fit (and if the state of his contract permits). Other than that I would not write anybody off - well maybe Zenden - we should have a younger player providing cover.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

We need four top notch strikers.

One or two of them might stay as backup for longer but there is more talent out there and I think Tom and George are going for that.

Well, with a better financial situation now the players coming in should be of a higher quality.

So my question is: who of our current squad have the quality to stay long term.

                            Oh I see, thanks.

Most of them I'd have thought. Rafa doesn't want a squad of superstars. Having said that, there's nearly always someone better around. The only exceptions to that I can see are Gerrard and Carragher and that's down to being the "soul" of the team, not talent per se.

No, we don't need 4 top notch strikers, they cost too much and wouldn't bring anything different to what we have now, and would be unsettling to try & keep them happy, Rafa has spent close to £25M on 3 strikers so far, 1 top drawer striker will offer us all the possibilities we crave for.

We need creation to put the strikers in, to lay it on a plate for them, then we will get the goals galore with what we have, our current strikers are trying to create all the chances themselves and working hard at it whereas they should be hanging around the goal area banging them in.
