Thought this was the stand out line from the article - and reminds me of similar experiences on my travels around the world - if them foreign types cant understand an Englishman, then just shout!Originally posted by AFII View PostThere was confusion at times with the language barriers. That's something we can sort out – they'll have to learn English as soon as they can.

Here lies a rant so if you want to ignore i don't blame you
Emiliano Ensua=2.5million-Gareth Bale=10million same age same position same stages of their career. Why the 7.5 million difference?
Because one plays in the English league and the other is from Argentina thats why, it's sheer lunacy the transfer system in this country, the top clubs don't help either they take most of the money but then whinge when
the smaller clubs try to rip them off.
Until the premier & football leagues come to some sort of arrangement this madness will continue with virtually every half decent domestically produced player will remain in the lower leagues.
A case in point about the inflation of the average English players value Michael Carrick cost UTD 18million they could have had Riquelme for 3million less, now i don't know about you but I know which one I would rather have.
The biggest hurdle in the way for Rafa to sign domestic talent is infact his transfer fund as clubs will seek to try and inflate their players value based on the assumption that Liverpool have a huge kitty, just look at how the chavs have been ripped in the past, I hope the club takes a firm stand on this but if they want to get the best domestic talent they may have no option.
It's not that other clubs haven't tried it on before, in 1997 Liverpool put an offer in for Winston Bogarde from Ajax I Can't remember the exact fee but it was around the 4-5 million mark the deal was well on it's way to completion when Liverpool found out that both Barcelona & AC Milan were interested & had bids accepted by Ajax at a substantially lower transfer value Ajax thought they could rip off Liverpool because the infant premiership was rolling in cash and had become the richest league in the world needless to say Liverpool ****ed Ajax off, I think Bogarde ended up at Milan.
Sorry about the long winded post and i've probably said very little that people didn't already Know just wanted to get it off my chest forums really are a great thing aren't they
Just to be clear I hate Rick Parry with a ****ing passion and no I don't want to talk about it.

That would be the Riquelme who has been loaned back to an Argentinian club. I suspect he would have never made it in the PL, the two things he requires are space and players that can take the ball instantly (in that sense much like Veron who always seemed a bit shocked by the lack of control of the players around him when he was here). I can see you point that English fees are inflated but fees paid by the rich clubs are inflated whatever happens and you will always pay a premium for players who are adapted to the league/country you are in.Originally posted by Trousers View PostA case in point about the inflation of the average English players value Michael Carrick cost UTD 18million they could have had Riquelme for 3million less, now i don't know about you but I know which one I would rather have.
I have a lot more sympathy for you argument about young players. The amount charged by english teams for them is ridiculous. However while the PL hoards all the money in the English game lower teams will have to try it on to survive, let alone compete. Would we be better of giving the lower league the money to be financially stable? I honestly don't know."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
