        what a well taken goal though, I think most players would have taken an extra touch n the ball before they realised it was too late, Gonzales took the ball in, sdjusted himself accordingly and put it away nicely, well taken goal, and a glimpse of his natural ability.

              very true, the lad needs to be given a chance. also, vlad was never anywhere near as bad as some people make out. his main problem was he was an injury prone ****er. when he had a run of games under his belt he was very good, no good at coming back from injury and getting straight back in the groove

                Off course it is, but I have a feeling that our signings this summer will turn out even better than the Crop of 2005

                  Good finish, got the ball stuck beneath his feet originally but, think he only touched the ball twice and put in a wicked cross and scored. Can't argue with that.

                    cracking start for gonzales....more made up about pennant actually. He proved today what a great outlet he will be for us....if gonzales lives up to his hype , dare i say it .....the best wingers in the league since Giggs & Beckham pairing and with finnan behind pennant that side is well sewn up...and hopefully auerlio can get fit and do job on other side

                      Long term, Aurelio and Gonzalez down the left would be a far far far better option than what we had tonight. Riise and Zenden are both so slow that, playing in tandem, the left hand side becomes a virtual write-off. Neither can go past defenders and our moves broke down almost every time those two got involved.

                      I don't know whether Bellamy makes a habit of drifting out to the left, Henry style, but at times I thought Bellamy felt he HAD to go out there as there was **** all else happening.

                        Both threads are jumping the gun way too much.

                        Ryan saying that he was the new vlad after a couple of half pre-season performances was wrong as is your judgement on Gonzalez after he played tonight and did well for a whole 5 minutes.

                              pennant was my MOM. if he plays in a 4-4-2 with crouch and bellamy up front then he will be a real asset.
