    David Villa on Liverpool speculation....

Valencia's Villa shuts door on Liverpool
    tribalfooball.com - February 16, 2007

Valencia star David Villa admits he's a regular at Liverpool - but insists he has no plans of joining the Reds' American revolution.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez plans to use the cash of new co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett to prise Villa away from Los Che and the striker says: "Pepe Reina and I are good friends from our time together with Spain U21.

"I often go to England to see him and he comes here. But I am happy in Spain. My people, my language. It seems funny to say in 2007, but I don't have an ambition to play abroad."

Asked about Real Madrid's interest, Villa scoffed: "It seems they want to sign everyone! They have some champions, but they're going through a bad time."

He will sign - the money and opportunity will be too good to turn down.

If you read the direct quotes. At no point does he ever rule it out.

Hope the fact that he looked to be freezing his nads off at the recent friendly wont dissuade him from signing. We should have the funds and Rafa is a big draw for the Spaniards - fingers crossed.

totally different type of player, I think he could do quite well. Nando was a soft touch, he doesn't stike me as the same.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Wasn't a big enough draw a couple years ago. Why should it be now?

                    I don't think we'll get Villa.

No. It says he doesn't have an ambition to. Still, for the reasons he sites, if he were to come abroad, to what better place than Liverpool with our nice little Spanish community.

However, don't get me wrong. I'm under no illusions as to how difficult it would be to get him even if we are prepared to cough up the money. And even then, there's the not inconsiderable risk that he might not be able to recreate his talent in the Prem in much the same way that Nando couldn't.

Well, if he leaves Valencia then it looks like we are his first choice club.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

It's funny how people think this bloke will sign.....

                          Did you read his quotes....?

"But I am happy in Spain. My people, my language. It seems funny to say in 2007, but I don't have an ambition to play abroad."

That coupled with his previous quotes made last year would suggest that he doesn't want to come to Liverpool.

Many players have said the same thing before and left a couple of weeks/months later.
