Have to agree. Hopefully he can raise his game on Wednesday and perform as we know he can.

Back on the Villa subject, 50 million is a ridiculous figure. We will never ever spend those kind of figures - I can see us going for him at 25 million max.

Dani Alves looked the part last night, apart from falling over a little too easily for my liking. Ballague did mention that Alves could be at Anfield next season.

i wouldn't say he has been a let down although i think he has been quiet in some games recently and he has to have a massive game against barca. i think now that he is playing in the centre he has to disipline himself more and can't go maurading forward at every chance!

I don't care about the stats this season. His value to our team (and to any team), is second to none.
I guess the WC also has taken it's toll.
He is valuable to the team, but not enough end product lately.

          Alves looked lively, yes.
We won't spend 50 mill, let alone over 20.

I think this is an important point. Gerrard on the right, or in an advanced role is much more dangerous.

I think you are kidding yourself AF

Alves isnt in the same league as Gerrard as a right sided midfielder

Dont get me wrong hes a good player but there is a reason one is valued circa £15 million and the other over £30 million

                I tend to agree.
there is no way he would be able to influence a game from the right full back position in the Premier League like he does in La Liga.
Watched him last night, he was impressive, scored one and set anohter up while i was watching.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Signing Villa would be fantastic, but I have my reservations as to whether LFC would splash out so much money on one player - with the Yanks having agreed a deal to take over the club things may change, so time will tell there though!

With all the top clubs also in the hunt for Villa it will cost a huge amount of money to prize him away from Valencia, and I have my doubts as to whether we will enter the bidding war, when it starts.

Saying that, Klose is one player that I can see us signing - his contract is running low and it's been mentioned that he will look to leave for abroad in the summer. He has it all for me, apart from blistering pace, and would be a great addition to our striker force in the summer if he signed.

He'll probably come at the cost of either Bellamy or Crouch, but if Bellers leaves then another top striker with pace must be found from somewhere. Villa?!
