I was disappointed with Crouch, which is something I don't often say. I thought his presence was effective but he didn't do much on the ball.

Agree, three debutants looked good - was disappointed to see Bellers come off as although he was wandering he looked very lively.

Couldn't believe the sheer numbers of crosses JP was sending in - you could argue that not all found their target but more often than not he was aiming at Ballamy alone. I think if Kuyt comes it will make a difference, also Crouch and Fowler will provide more of an aerial threat ... not forgetting Speedy who has already shown that he will get into the box at the far post so I expect to see a far better return from this source this season

i thought we played well for this stage - take away the sloppy goal and it'd all be rosy

seriously though the goal illustrates a key point. our major problem will be integrating the new defenders. sami is a great, and still technically a world class defender, but hes losing his legs and well always be vulnerable when holding a high line while he plays.

I am more positive after that game than before it!! The newboys look valuable additions. They will prove the difference this year.

Hi Tom, do you know if Kuyt is nailed on to sign for us ? Any info on this? We need a striker who is going to attack the crosses that Pennant delivers, Crouch is not a very good header of the ball IMHO.
