Rafa really, really, really wants Kuyt, and if it was just his decision I think we'd have signed him already.

Would indicate that Rafa's been told he can't spend the money to get Kuyt which if true is very disturbing & worrying. Lec seemed confident that we had the money for both Alves & Kuyt until Seville started playing silly buggers - assumed "settling" for Pennant would have eliminated any subsequent problems.
Hope your guy is happy for your to elaborate Tom as if it is Parry / Moores who have said no, can't imagine Rafa is happy about it and could easily start to become disillusionedAt a football club there's a holy trinity- the players the manager and the supporters, Directors dont come into it, they are only there to sign the cheques " - Bill Shankly

That's a bit more reassuring - suppose with it dragging on a bit I'm getting pesimistic.Originally posted by TomI still think we'll get him, and you may be reading a little bit too much into what I say.
Still interested to know what you are referring to as even if I was reading too much into your comments, definetely seems as though someone is throwing a spanner in the works - "if it was just Rafa's decision we would have signed him already" would indicate that we are struggling to come up with the funds to meAt a football club there's a holy trinity- the players the manager and the supporters, Directors dont come into it, they are only there to sign the cheques " - Bill Shankly

Too bad Nando didn't have this sort of constant bombardment. It might have redefined his disappointing stay at the club.Originally posted by homer1Couldn't believe the sheer numbers of crosses JP was sending in - you could argue that not all found their target but more often than not he was aiming at Ballamy alone. I think if Kuyt comes it will make a difference, also Crouch and Fowler will provide more of an aerial threat ... not forgetting Speedy who has already shown that he will get into the box at the far post so I expect to see a far better return from this source this season

Well of course money comes into it, but i'm referring more to the boundaries of peoples jobs in regard the overall running of the club. That's the absolute last comment I'll make about this issue.Originally posted by homer1

sounds like if we had got a convincing win last night, we would nearly have him in the bag today.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs
