If Masher starts on Saturday, won't it mean a midfield of (say) Gonzo, Gerrard, Masher and Pennant? i.e. Alonso rested?!

ehh, no your real mateOriginally posted by MrMichael View PostIf that's accurate I'd be made up

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Anyones guess really what Rafa will do next, I would have thought he would like to see him playing alongside Alonso, who is a more diciplined central midfielder than Gerrard.Originally posted by disco View PostIf Masher starts on Saturday, won't it mean a midfield of (say) Gonzo, Gerrard, Masher and Pennant? i.e. Alonso rested?!Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

The team (and I include the all important bench in that statement) is improving isn't it? Now, imagine The Dude totally replaced and Momo instead of Zenden, looking good step-by-step.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostBingo! I posted a team earlier and mine would be:

Absolutely mate. Taking my team above as an example....Kuyt for Fowler, Momo for Zenden, plus Aurelio and Garcia (and maybe Kewell) to come back in, the match-day 16 is looking very strong indeed. Still room for improvement, but it's falling into place quite nicely for now.Originally posted by lfc4ever View PostThe team (and I include the all important bench in that statement) is improving isn't it? Yup, no need for all this talk of mega-money being thrown at it, let it mature one step at a time, just a real number 9 would be most welcome though.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostAbsolutely mate. If we had lost last night many on here would be screaming out for 3-4 new players of the highest quality...
Now suddenly everything is nice and dandy eh?--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--

I still think we need 3 or 4 new very good players, but it doesn't make what I said any less true IMO.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostHaha....

It's just that such a result usually makes us forget that we are still a class apart from the teams at the top both domestically and in Europe.--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--

Oh I agree, and it could very feasibly go tits up at Anfield.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostMaybe...

I think Mascherano's signing is a notable one. Not only does he give us another top class possibility in centre-mid, his presence in the squad opens up other avenues for us in terms of formations. His presence alone makes our team/bench look much stronger and more flexible.
Like I said though....room for improvement.
