I'm glad that there was nobody seriously hurt - even if they're Mancs.

very true even if it is difficult to acknowledge manc ****s are still human beings..."I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

What a ****ing disgrace that authorities should allow anything remotely approaching a crush to happen. Have the lessons not been learnt well enough outside of our own country's top flight? Will it take more people dying before they sort this out elsewhere? On TV all they ****ing chatted about was how Lille should be thrown out the competition for almost walking off the pitch. How about ****ing doing something about the stupidity that allowed a crush to occur? Something's got to be done, if you don't take a hard line then authorities will not make the right changes and put the right emphasis on certain aspects of safety.Like blood on iron

Didn't hear this "song" last night mind. Maybe this incident will educate a few of their fans on how a situation like this feels.Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital. Aaron Levenstein

Lets not forget they are still just normal people whos lifes were put in danger for no justifable reason.
Im glad to actually read something like this on a football forum, far too much hatred and grudges in football, in what is supposed to be a beautifull game.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

The rest of european football needs a ****ing good shake. It really pisses me off how UEFA, FIFA and the EU and other governments in eurpoe ****ing stumble through their procedures and clubs walk away with a slap on the wrist. As much as English still has it's problems, you never see or hear anything as high profile as what happens across Europe(spain, italy, france, holland - all developed countries) - I know our government and The FA etc are ****, but are we the only foward thinking country when it comes to dealing with safety, hooliganism etc ect(both on and off the pitch).
In the past couple of years, a few things that spring to mind
ITALY - Flare thrown on the pitch, hitting Dida(i think) in the face during AC vs Inter CL match
- Various reports of stabbings/riotings at serie A matches/European Matches
-Police officer being killed by a fire bomb
-the match fixing saga
SPAIN - The whole racism arguement, including
.Their national coach calling Henry a (insert racist comment)
.Monkey chanting aimed at black England players during friendly in Madrid
.Loads of reports of racist chanting at league games, inncluding Eto'o trying to walk of the pitch due to abuse and other black oppostion players trying to keep him on the pitch and calm the fans down
Also things like a Pigs Head thrown at Figo (How the ****)
HOLLAND - Hoolaginsm, maybe not as high profile as others due to size of league etc - but there is constant reports of crowd trouble in Holland, esp in big games. (can't be arse looking in to details at mo)
FRANCE - overcrowding at a Champions League game, luckily nothing serious happened. During same game numerous objects thrown on to pitch.
TURKEY - Nuff said
Now I'm sure there is more incidents, these are just ones that sprung to mind. What really pisses me off is - if any off these happened over here in the Premier league or high profile euro games, there would be ****ing uproar, heavy fines, points deductions, transfer embargo, thrown out of competitions etc etc etc, but anywhere else in europe and seemingly **** all is doneLast edited by PTP; 21-02-07, 11:26 AM.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

To give the FA and the government their dues, they made huge progress in stadium design, policing, anti-racism campaigns starting from when we were banned from European competition. The things we have done clearly need to be rolled out throughout Europe.Originally posted by PTP View Post

I still find it shocking the poor level of penalties handed out by UEFA to teams for violence and racism. It is easily arguable that several clubs/nations really have deserved penalities up to and including being banned from European competition but tend to get a 12p fine."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

We certainly shouldn't be gloating about this and I'd hate to see anyone doing so.
It will make those Man Utd fans who like to gloat about Hillsborough and blame our fans think twice though hopefully, don't know whether it's irony or karma but it will be interesting to hear what those who gloat thought's are.

You wouldn't believe the Manc response. Well, certainly the one I encountered this morning. I don't know if this is indicative of the feeling amongst Mancs in general, but this morning I got:Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostWe certainly shouldn't be gloating about this and I'd hate to see anyone doing so.

"This had nothing to do with pissed up hooligans turning up late, and trying to get in for nothing. As far as I know, they let some of our fans into the away end, who'd previously been housed in the Lille end, and it became congested and a crush started to develop. Nothing like Hillsborough."
Unbelievable. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
