exactly, thats what I was trying to say, all the slagging off people give our governmant and the FA for their mistakes etc, on this issue they have really worked hard on stamping out racism and violence plus increased safety etc - They may never completly stamp it out and there will always be incidents that happen, but on a whole they really moved on. Mainly because they are foward thinking and are Pro Active, in terms of planning and prevention as opposed the rest of europe, they seem tobe REACTIVE - where they seem to expect everything to happen peacefully and when it does kick off they need to react but don't know how to. I would like to write more but my frigging phone won't stop ringing as someone is of sick and two people off on holiday leaving me covering a whole department, which even when the other three are in, it is still under staffed, never mind when I'm on my ownOriginally posted by dww View PostTo give the FA and the government their dues, they made huge progress in stadium design, policing, anti-racism campaigns starting from when we were banned from European competition. The things we have done clearly need to be rolled out throughout Europe.
I still find it shocking the poor level of penalties handed out by UEFA to teams for violence and racism. It is easily arguable that several clubs/nations really have deserved penalities up to and including being banned from European competition but tend to get a 12p fine.

Unbelievable alright!Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostYou wouldn't believe the Manc response. Well, certainly the one I encountered this morning. I don't know if this is indicative of the feeling amongst Mancs in general, but this morning I got:
"This had nothing to do with pissed up hooligans turning up late, and trying to get in for nothing. As far as I know, they let some of our fans into the away end, who'd previously been housed in the Lille end, and it became congested and a crush started to develop. Nothing like Hillsborough."
Unbelievable.
EXACTLY like Hillsborough, yeah they had tickets that's the only difference, but not in that end.
And they weren't pissed up? yeah right, I don't know many people who go to away matches abroad and don't drink, especially ones who don't have legitimate tickets, that's all they go for, to drink and hope they get in somehow.

This thread is quite sad to read.
As far as I see it we are all as bad as each other. Let us not forget that there are 70,000 Man Utd fans at Old Trafford and it is only a minority who taunt us - a vocal minority but still a minority. Just as a minority of our 'fans' chant about Munich etc..
With all that our fans have gone through, maybe the horrible minority of our so called fans are the ones who should also be thinking twice before opening their mouths.

I'm pretty sure the child and elderly woman pulled from the crush were not pissed up.Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostUnbelievable alright!

The Mancs will never read the official report and see who was really at fault because it doesn't fit in with their lines of abuse.
Whilst there are people who go to Euro aways solely for the drinking, there are those who also go for other reaons in addition to the football. There are thousands in Barcelona who will spend time visting the many sights but further thousands just there to drink all day and not even appreciate what a lovely place they are in.
Don't lump everyone together because that is what the Mancs do.I live with Steptoe.

Ever been to Old Trafford and had to stomach almost the entire ground, all four sides, singing "murderers"?Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The parallels with Hillsborough are uncanny.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostThey're just saying on SSN that last night's problem was caused by ticketless fans getting into the United end.
If they don't "think twice" in future, then they really are as ignorant as I've always suspected them to be.
Still, it's the authorities which have ****ed upQuote of the year :

Of course it is, by my point is these Manc *******s really ought to buck their ideas up.Originally posted by disco View PostThe parallels with Hillsborough are uncanny.

It took Hillsborough, sadly, for a lot of our support to shut up about Munich. Although last night's events clearly aren't on the same scale, you'd hope they'll learn from this.
But I wouldn't hold my breath. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
