    Rafa: I'll decide Bellamy future.

FOOTBALL: RAFA: I'LL DECIDE BELLAMY FUTURE
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPECIAL BARCELONA V LIVERPOOL, TONIGHT, 7.45
    David Maddock 21/02/2007

CRAIG Bellamy was left sweating on his Liverpool future last night after manager Rafael Benitez failed to give his disgraced striker public support.

The Liverpool manager, preparing his side for tonight's Champions League tie in Barcelona, must decide whether he will put his faith in the forward's pace to unsettle the Catalan's defence.

But the Wales star's long-term future is even less certain, with Benitez saying: "There are many questions about Bellamy's future, but the only person who knows the answer about those things is me, and I am not going to talk about it at this time because I am concentrating on the game."

Bellamy threatened teammate John Arne Riise with a golf club during a training camp which descended into drunken chaos, and the 15 players fined for their behaviour have all apologised.

Barcelona hope to take advantage of any splits at the Nou Camp tonight and their Brazilian defender Edmilson taunted Steven Gerrard, claiming he is wasted at Anfield.

The Barcelona defender, ruled out by injury tonight, said: "Gerrard should consider a new experience as a footballer.

"If he doesn't move, then when he gets to the end of his career he might think, 'what have I done, what have I accomplished?'

"If he stays there he will see that he spent the whole life in the same place and wasted an opportunity to do new things."

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

He is injured so I doubt that.

            From their website....

Frenchman Thuram is the new addition to the squad list for the Wednesday's game with Liverpool, meanwhile Frank Rijkaard has opted to leave out Samuel Eto'o, José Edmílson, Santi Ezquerro and Sylvinho.

Lilian Thuram, who received the medical all clear on Monday is the new addition to the squad list for Wednesday's game against Liverpool. The French international who, following his injury already travelled to Seville to play against Betis, is inclueded in the team list and could even return to the starting team given the absence of Edmílson. That is the only addition to the squad that travelled to Valencia in the last league encounter.

            Eto'o still out

The Brazilian is not the only player left out, Rijkaard has also omitted Samuel Eto'o, Ezquerro and Sylvinho. Due to the fact that the Dutch coach gave his press conference before announcing the list, it is still unclear as to why those four players have been omitted.

In any case, it's worth remembering that Eto'o was left out of the squad for the Valencia match to enable him to continue his recovery from his knee injury. In fact, during the last training session for the game with Liverpool, the Cameroon player was seen going through a series of individual exercises with physical trainer Albert Roca.

15 players fined? That seems it was everyone.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is a very un-rafa type statement, as was the whole tracking four named italian based players thing from another thread. is he becoming more open in interviews or is it journobollox?

Rafa is the type of manager who wont say anything, so the player wont get complacient. and vice versa.
IMO if Bellamy can prove his worth between now and the end of the season, he will be here next season.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I think that Rafa already have decided to sell him. Rafa have said that the player stays everytime before someone has asked about one of our players being sold.

He has done that when he has been asked about Crouch, Gerrard, Alonso and Bellamy before.

He was probably on the way out anyway even before the golf club incident happened.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.
