he must be a serious source of frustration for any manager. on his day he is legendary, capable of the sublime and a game changer and players go off the boil for sometimes significant periods of time but **** me he never ever ever tracks back at all - he totally ****in gives up once he loses the ball and it goes into what he obviously views as the "last two thirds of the pitch"... i know he would never come to us anyway but i seriously doubt that even if rafa was real madrid´s manager that he´d buy him. what do you lads and lasses think - does his ability compensate for the pressure he puts on is teammates?

Good point, but his strengths outweigh his weaknesses by quite a long way. On another note - he gets awya with murder. He is one of the dirtiest players I've ever seen. He elbows and fouls people and gets away with it because of his status. Noticed this against Valencia on Sunday and yesterday against us too. I actually hate him - he's nothing compared to Rivaldo of old.My kebab comes with chilli sauce

I'd take him like a shot at liverpool, but i take your point. That is why given the choice between our captain and Ronny, I would chose Stevie every time.
Ronny is from the harlom globtrotters school of football, he will win you matches and put on a terrific show, but if he is off form then he will give you absolutely nothing. At the moment he is just going through a bad patch. He'll come good/out of this world again soon, just hopefully not at Anfield. It would be mighty dangerous to write a player of his calibre off because if his head is right, then he still has the skills to destroy us.

There was no honesty in the Barca performance last night, the team has been tore apart by personal battles on and off the pitch.
It would be hard for any player to stand out in such circumstances. I dont think Ronaldihno's head is right tbh.
As for Rafa not taking him, I think if he was offered Ronaldihno and didnt have to budget for anyone else, he would take him like a shot, same goes for Messi and Ronaldo (man U) imagine them type of players on our flanks, we would be awesome.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I'm not saying Ronaldinho is crap but he's only scored 19 goals this season and for an attacking midfielder that's not very good.
If we had a midfielder who scored 19 goals for us by March I couldn't care less whether he tracked back or not. He's a pure 100% attacking player. His attacking prowess far far outweighs any deficiencies he has in the defensive part of his game.
Any manager including Rafa would have Ronaldinho in his side.

Especially when you think of Garcia week in week out in the EPL. Rafa likes flair players who likes to try things, not all over the pitch, but he does like them.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

You can't have a player like that in Premiership. Strikers and midfielders must help when the team is defending. In Spain you can lose the ball and then take a nap and play on cus opponents understand this and won't attack. And usually he doesn't need to track back at all cus if he loses the ball it's a faul. It's in the rules there.

I'm just thankful that Kenyon f*cked up when United were on the verge of signing Ronaldinho. Can you imagine what a forward quartet of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Saha and Rooney would do to opposition defences? They'd demolish everyone.

He's a class player one i enjoy watching everytime.
He's got 19 goals this season for an attacking midfielder is pretty good.
Maybe this is what Ronnie is on about this year, people having a go at him if he plays one bad game or doenst do all the tricks to keep the crowd happy....FICKLELast edited by thesilverfoxlfc; 22-02-07, 09:38 PM.When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

Yeah i've often though about the failed United bid to sign ronaldihno, thank god they didn't get him. If ever there was a manager in the EPL to best utilise the attacking tallents of such a player, it is Fergie. Not that I think Wenger or Rafa would do too badly with him either.Originally posted by desertscouser View Post

ronaldinho is off form, hes far from crap ffs. thats the way he has always played for barca, no one was complaining when they were destroying teams last season. his weak points get highlighted when he is not effective, which isnt often. we often had two and three men around him when he had the ball, most of the time he did the smart thing and dropped the ball back. i think our defenders deserve credit, it has nothing to do with ronnie being crapLast edited by Ron_Mexico; 22-02-07, 10:26 PM.
