    Crouch for Trez ?

Juventus ask Liverpool for Crouch in Trezeguet talks
    tribalfooball.com - February 23, 2007

Juventus are ready to do business with Liverpool over striker David Trezeguet.

The France international is a confirmed target for Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, who admitted his interest in the want-away forward earlier this week.

Juve have already been shutdown over demands for Steven Gerrard to be included in the talks, but an alternative has been put forward by the Bianconeri management - Peter Crouch.

A swap which will see the England international move to Turin in exchange for Trezeguet has already tentatively begun, says Corriere dello Sport.

I'd be very tempted to swap those players. But as you say its just paper talk.

I wouldn't. Crouch offers something unique and is still about 25. Trezeguet scores a lot of goals, yes, but is one of those strikers who contributes nothing else and is aged about 30.

Not sure what I'd want with this one.

As has been said, Crouch offers us something totally different to anyone else, and I suppose the 'fear' factor with his height is always a worry for the opposition despite his 'lack of' heading ability at times.

Trezeguet's record speaks for itself, but he's known to be a lazy player despite his goalscoring powers, and what's to say he'd be a success in the EPL anyway with the rough and tumble and pace of the game over here. His game is ideally suited in Italy where it's a lot slower and the build up play isn't always as intense.

Saying that, without him having a go over here it's impossible to tell how he'd get on, and as his record is so good I'd be prepared to give him a go, but not so sure if I'd want it at Crouchie's expense. Once Crouch started scoring for us after that initial 'drought period' he had when he arrived his record has been brilliant - if you compare his goals to started games ratio, and I've been very happy with his contribution here. To lose that would be a shame and if Trezeguet arrives then I'd like to have Crouch here also, but we'll see what, if anything, comes of this link.

I wouldn't pay over the odds for Trezeguet though.

I would prefer to have Huntelaar, Tevez, Villa, Torres or Eto's personally. Trezeguet is a great player but he is 30 this year....I am assuming that Rafa wants 4 strikers at the club Kuyt and Voronin seem pretty sure and then you have to assume one more world class striker and either Crouch or Bellamy (although I could quite possibly see both of these being sold) I think it would be a big disappointment to lose Crouch. He is an English international and troubles defences.....never going to be world class but I like him alot.

I don't believe that we are after Trezeguet. Probably a smokescreen for someone else.

Villa is probably the number one striker target and I believe that Rafa will sign him in the summer if he is available at a fair price something like £25m-£30m.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Just like Peter Crouch was a smokescreen for Kuyt and Pennant was a smokescreen for Alves, eh?
