I'm surprised that many of you on here are calling it a bad signing, and to come out with all the other poor player related nonsense that's being spouted about him.

He's a total unknown to all of us, there may have been a few games that he's been seen in but certainly not enough to describe him as a poor player etc.

Yeah but at the same time, we know he is not being rought in as a our top striker and as back up goes we could do much worse than an experienced international for free. The scepticism is unwarranted, if he does not work out what have we lost? He can provide back up in numerous positions and this is not FM and you can't have a lot of very expensive players being happy as back up.

But of course it is more sensible to whine and write him off of before he has even had a chance like so many on this thread have :whatever:

I agree with everything you've said Still doesn't change the point that we are loaded now, so we want to sign the world class players. Voronin is a bit of a let down in that regard. Everyone is thinking Etoo and then Voronin turns up. You can understand why people are underwhelmed.

I think people are overplaying the being loaded part. We are not capable of doing what Chelsea have done, and it is not obvious what sort of budgets we will be looking at in terms of transfer value + wages to bring in players. This summer we need at least three top players bought in according to most judges, so we can't go splurging enormous amounts on backup players.

People badly need to be more patient, at this time of year there is no chance of a big name signing being released, only pre-contracts with future bosmans so really it is time to chill. there are not a lot of world clas players who will be available on a free in the summer.

How is Rafa going to keep 4 strikers of Bellamy and Kuyt's quality on the bench all the time. Voronin is here as backup just as Fowler has been all year. He won't be playing in front of Kuyt or Bellamy unless he shocks us all.

Fowler is passed it and I think Voronin will definitely be 4th choice striker and a better one than Fowler, so I don't really see the problem. Although in saying all this I hope he's not the only striker we bring in the summer.
