    Riise to the Chavs?

Chelsea are considering Liverpool's John Arne Riise as an alternative if Arsenal reject their £20million bid for Ashley Cole.
Rumours are surfacing in London that Jose Mourinho has placed the Norwegian next on his list of left-sided defensive targets as the capital's big two wrangle over the price-tag for the England star.
Riise was impressive in last season's Champions' League clashes against the Stamford Bridge club and can provide an attacking threat down the flank - something the Blues coach identified in Cole.

Liverpool would be unwilling to sell unless Rafael Benitez can snap up a quick replacement from his Spanish contacts - but Riise's attacking instincts have left the Anfield back four, Sami Hyypia in particular, exposed during the pre-season.

Benitez could be tempted to part with the Norwegian, a firm favourite with the fans and previous management team, but not indispensable to the current coach - if the price is right and Chelsea can certainly afford his personal demands.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

      We wish.
How much did the offer for Ashley Cole in the end?
Cant help thinking, this specualtion is only designed at forcing Arsenal's hand for Cole. IMHO they will sign him.

It's obviously an unsettling tactic from the scummy chavs though.

they offered 17 million bones for Cashley Cole. It's a blatant pre-match Mourinho wind-up. As lame as Drogba

Always really looked at Gallas as more of a centre half type player, although he does a good job as a defensive fullback. Would think he would be a Rafa type fullback, not attacking enough.
Tend to agree with G man and yourself, would think it could be a deliberate attempt to unsettle us before sunday, albeit a lame attempt, and to force Arsenal into selling a player, they know, doesnt want to be at Arsenal.

If they offered silly money for him, I'd be very surprised if we turned them down. Despite his fantastic engine, his solid defensive ability and his wonderful left peg, he still has his limitations. He's a laborious runner, he turns like an oil tanker and he often gets caught too far up the pitch. If I was Rafa and they came in offering a small fortune, I'm afraid I'd accept.

It's likely bollox though, so it's not really an issue.

isnt that a reason he wants to leave Chelsea? because he is playing in the wrong position?

Not sure, maybe so, i know he used to give out over it. Always thought he wanted to play somewhere on the continent. Although id be supprised if there was too many continental clubs willing to pay him as high a wage as some English clubs could afford. Especially as he is a defender.

I can't believe for one minute that this is true, but just in case it is...

YES! Quote them £15m, £10m cheaper than the asking fee for Cole. They may pay it and if they did we'd be laughing.

We would have to accept silly money from them. Have to. Riise is expendable, and in my opinion one of our weaker links.

Still, it's a load of bollocks so I'm wasting my time.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Yeah Cole won't be happy staying at Arsenal at all.

Yep, if we got an offer for £10m plus I'd sell him.
