    just for old times sake

    from the times:

Signed for £16 million from Real in the summer of 2005, Owen’s contract stipulates that he can leave for half that this summer.

if he proves his fitness before the end of the season would a proven premier league player for 8m be so bad for 3rd choice striker?

"At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques"

I'm not sure what to think about this compensation bollocks. If they are going to pay Newcastle compo because of Owen then they need to ****ing well pay us some for Cisse's injury. In any case they should either never pay compo or always pay it based on some kind of system. The way this is going gives me the impression they are just paying Toon off to stop them making a fuss and taking it to court which is out of order.

Oh, and the Owen debate has been done to death so please God let's leave it. Plllleeeease!

So a kind of hush money scenario your saying red polo? It's not so bad for us though because Cisse is out on loan at the moment so we wont be entirely paying his full wages or anyone of them im not sure which kinda balances out for when he was injured i suppose.

He will have to prove his fitness first but a fit Owen for £8m would be a steal.

When it comes down the compensation bit then it's down the countries football federations what deals they have with the clubs.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I read somewhere yesterday that Owen's current aim is to be fit for England's first match at the new Wembley. How comforting that must sound for Newcastle fans.

I must be going soft in me old age coz I'd l'd like to see Owen back knocking them in for us again. If the price wasn't prohibitive and his fitness wasn't in question then I'm all for it.

I need a lie down now.

we dont need to take these risks anymore.....and Owen is a risk, as well as a back stabbing welsh midget. Not that i am bitter

It's totally hypothetical. THere is NO WAY he can "prove his fitness before the end of the season". He hasn't played regular football since he left Anfield.
