Liverpool or Man Utd could charge £100 per ticket and it would still fill up. Granted a load of pepople will be priced out but there is always a plane load of people willing to pay it. Maybe the days of season tickets will be gone and people going to one game every now and then will come in. Theyre more likely to pay more money.

i know what youre saying - but this only exacerbatesthe problem - if the demand remains there is no way youll get the big four to significantly reduce prices - yet the rest of the teams will have to - in order to fill thir grounds - its just speeding up the process of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.....Originally posted by Deano View PostSupply and demand
Yes the top 4 wil always have people wanting to watch a game live so why cut ticket prices ? - You take Blackburn and Bolton - They have reduced prices as they cannot fill their stadia unless it is against a top 4 club or a derby.
Also - i always think back to the U.S. drafting system but we dont have a college system so in effect there is no one to draft.....

We are a top 4 club, but are we rich - I doubt we were (Think pennant or Lampshade/Table leg).Originally posted by Mr Tourette View Posti its just speeding up the process of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.....

the so called smaller clubs tend to be in areas which are indeed smaller hence the need to attact OOT - history also plays apart about who you will support and so on.
Look at the Northwest - 7 PL clubs of which four manage to sell out week in week out. The remaining three Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton come from small towns hence the lack of appeal / core support.
Don't forget there a number of lower league clubs in the same area as well drawing support from these areas. Wigan have to contend with Rugby league as well.
Can you imagine Stockport County getting more than 15000 if they reach the premeriship when you have man Utd/City on their doorstep - Agin it goes back to supply and demand.I make no apologies, this is me

I know what youre saying, were were supposedly 80 million in debt but i think you know what im getting at. I just wanted peoples thoughts on the wider picture - if you break it right down to the bones there are only 4 clubs that can win the league and rather than the rest dreaming of building to challenge for the trophy in few years - teams are commenting that they need investment to get into the top 8....anyway, bored of my own conversation - seems people think it isnt a probalem that will ever effect us as a club.Originally posted by Deano View PostWe are a top 4 club, but are we rich - I doubt we were (Think pennant or Lampshade/Table leg).

I see your point and it could affect all clubs but in my opinion I don't think we are there yet.Originally posted by Mr Tourette View PostI know what youre saying, were were supposedly 80 million in debt but i think you know what im getting at. I think the next TV deal in the next decade will tell us that. I can't see it being more than this one coming up. It will probably end up on a boom and bust cycleOriginally posted by anfieldanfield View PostThe Premiership bubble is bound to burst sooner rather than later.
You can already see the cracks in a lot of clubs attendances.
The top four will always sell out though, no matter what the price of the ticket.I make no apologies, this is me

And pop goes through fazes.
Take away the top four and compare attendences now to five years ago, there is a significant drop.

Absolutely correct
My brother took a client on the Anfield stadium tour the other week
Season ticket waiting list stands at 58,000 (an additional 6,000 applicants already in 2007!)
There is also a waiting list for the £45,000 a year executive boxes!!
There is too much demand for Liverpool tickets to see price reductionsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Yeah - saw in the Kop magazine that the architects building the new stadium were asked at a Q & A what the waiting list was and they were told 53,000.
Madness.Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

i havent seen the plans - just a few visuals....But it would seem prudent to me to have at least discussed - hopefully designed in - the potential for the stadium to be expanded beyond 60,000. I would at the very least have hoped that the architects have discussed the issue with the planners - we are building a new stadium that is already 15,000 behind united....Originally posted by Maestro View Post

I agree - it's the only way the top clubs will manage to maintain growth in turnover and profit.Originally posted by Joe Le Toff View PostEuropean Super League (Which I suppose you could call the CL in all but name) is just around the corner IMO.
It's basically how the Premier League came about so it would be poetic justice if that's what happened..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Anyone know how this european super league would work? Would you get promoted into it form the major european leagues? surely it cant work like that? But you obvious need relegation to keep it interesting?Originally posted by Neil Young View PostI agree - it's the only way the top clubs will manage to maintain growth in turnover and profit.

i remember discussin a format for a super league with some one on here ages ago, we came up with something like
SUper league 1
top 16 teams from europe
Super League 2
next 16 teams in Europe
Three teams promoted into league 1, three relegated into league 2 - say 4 relegated from league 2 back into their domestic leagues - winners of top domestic league go into a playoff where top four get promoted. That's a pretty basic outline of it but it was along those lines - there was more to it but it was ages ago, can't remember the full format we had
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
