I was puzzled by Masher's absence yesterday. Did Rafa feel it was too soon for such a big game or did he have a niggle? Anyone?

I think yesterday it was a big big game, and we were running the risk of being narrow if we played sissoko aswell as Alonso, Gerrard and Mascherano.
Sssoko has done a great job in the past breaking up opposition attacks, especially when the opposition is quality. I guess Momo just had a bad day at the office on Saturday. Hopefully it wont be repeated against Barca who will be targeting him no doubt when he is on possession of the ball on Tuesday if he plays. The lads will have to make sure they are always available for him to pass comfortably to.

Defence picks itself. Obviously Pepe in goal, none of the other muppets.
Crouch and Bellamy up top.
Speedy, Xabi and Gerrard the other MF's.

Yes, an oversight on my part when agreeing with that side. Kuyt HAS to sit this one out, surely to God? If ever there's been a man in need of dropping/resting, it's him at the moment.

Were Kuyt dropped, would you have faith in Crouch and Bellamy to:

a) provide good movement to find space and link the play?
b) put the ball in the net, if a chance comes their way?

Crouch can hold the ball up to relieve the pressure (if the pressure comes)
Bellamy is the pacey threat to discourage Barca from pressing forward too much
Gonzo is quick too.
Momo has to play to break up the play.

Well, I'd have more faith in those two than I would Kuyt at present, yes.

Crouch will be fresh, broken nose aside, is our top scorer and has also scored a few in Europe.

We need Bellamy's pace on the break, and we also need the damn thing to stick - which Crouch always does very well.
