    Eamon Dunphy

"I was hoping in the last fifteen minutes that Barcelona would beat them. I've made my mine up on Benitez tonight. He's a nice man but he's got a huge negative streak running through him. Liverpool were terrible in the second-half. They didn't play football. If that was a concert, you'd boo. Gerrard: found out. A nothing player. They were terrible. Terrible" - Eamon Dunphy

There's a thread about this in the Rep of Ireland forum and also the link to this hideous display of punditry (Brady is as bad) is posted in the Robbie Earle thread.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

If was in charge at RTE I'd be seriously embarrassed about this. There's no way I'd employ Dunphy & Brady.

Dunphy just comes across as he always does - like a deranged, pissed up pikey. But Brady ought to know better - that's just rank bitterness stemming from his Arsenal connections. "Ooh Arsenal play such pretty football" - yeah, **** off.

i always liked dunphy thought he was funny and never beleived all the hype surrounding man utd and their players, but ive read those comments and am dissapointed. they always harp on about work rate hunger and attitude on rte and thats what liverpool gave last night and then they moan and say we didnt play nice enough football really contradicting themselves. it was barca they should have been having a go at players like messi ronaldinho must think they'll get shot if they track back into there own half. lazy friggers!

That's no different to 2 years ago....I'll never forget the ongoing "pub-team" references..
Dunphy goes a little overboard alright, Giles is closer to the truth......Brady just doesn't like Liverpool..
But it was a rubbish performance in the 2nd half, and RTE are known for not pulling any punches..
The bottom line is we were the better side over 2 legs, but that game should have been over by half-time. The fact we didn't take our chances was highlighted by the nervousness in the 2nd half......one of the worst 2nd half performances from us in a long time possession and control-wise.
Paradoxically, we created more chances than Barca in the 2nd half, due to their chasing, but still couldn't take them due to poor passing in the final third and honest to goodness poor finishing.

I don't expect RTE to praise Liverpool, even in the first leg it was more down to how bad Barca were than our own performance, but Giles is usually a middle ground to Eamo's headline-making summaries.....Chippy just doesn't have a clue..
I'd still take them anyday over the useless ITV and the sycophantic Sky

The 3 second silence from them after it was stated, "Well, they'll say they are in the quarter finals now, so..." was quite telling. They wanted a game of football, we wanted to progress. We got what we wanted so they can go choke on their pints of bitter :bird:

Blimey, that was grim viewing - were they watching the same game, in the same context?

Nah, no way. Sky & ITV are bad but they've never served up anything quite as laughable as that. It's just the worst analysis I've ever seen, frankly. Brady couldn't be on his Arsenal "great football" high horse any more obviously if he tried, and that rambling piss head Dunphy is the biggest joke in the game - well, he would be if anyone took any notice of him on a regular basis. He's just a wannabe.

Dunphys is just wants to be controversial as much as possible. When he wants to be he is a very good and sensible pundit as his radio show/newspaper articles prove most of the time but put a camera in front of him and he has to say something that gets a reaction...fool!!

Brady....Arsenal through and through and just wanted Barca to win as they beat the Arse in the final last year. He can't stand the idea of Liverpool becoming European champions again...muppet he actually said before the game he hoped Barca would win

Giles is a fantastic pundit...calls a spade a spade. Is a massive Rafa fan but like the rest of us sometimes can't understand Rafa's rotation policys, substitutions etc...he wants to see us play to our potential and would love us to be successful.....his slot on newstalk on a Thursday night is class!!

Thank **** I changed my avatar!!!

MY favorite bit in the whole thing was Brady at half time "Benitez has got his tactics spot on,up until now"

                                Full time.

Bill O'Hearlay (can't spell it) "Well Liam, you said Benitez got it spot on"

                                Brady "Drivel,drivel,dribble,dribble,never said that,dribble,dribble!!"

******s the pair of them at least Gyles says it pretty much as it is and he did explain himself better on the radio this morning.

I would've loved to point it out to Eammo that we weren't half as negative as his beloved scum were on saturday.
