They should give Andy Townsend his van back, the world's naffest and most sinister football analyst's device ever.

All you need to know about TV producers is that at some point a bunch of them sat around a table at some point and said, "Hey, that's a great idea about that van. Let's go with it!"

      Irish lads watching last night,
see Eamo was called up last night before ManU started about the undue criticism of LFC the previous night..
Lot of backlash to RTE from footie fans, not just LFC fans, about the pundits going overboard. Both Eamo and Giles re-explained their comments, a little more tempered as Dunphy was more interested in laying into ManU squad apart from Scholes and Rooney
Still agree with Gile's assesment.........excellent pundit, best around..

ITV have never had a decent pundit, BBC have the best, Sky some of them are alright but others, notably You're on Sky Sports are awful!

Oh and Jamie Redknapp, I love that guy, always have, but as a pundit, he hasn't got a clue.

David Platt has just come up with his own bit of gold, this time about Arsenal:

When Arsenal were winning things under Arsene Wenger – Championships, FA Cups – they were playing a good brand of football but they were winning games and I think that is what they have to get back into.

Now if that doesn't deserve the stating the bleeding obvious prize, then I don't know what does.

Most pundits are ****, sometimes I wish they would just have a pitchside mike and let us do the commentary from the couch.

The trouble is many of these so-called 'experts' still play golf with some of the players and managers so they'll never say anything controversial about anybody. How many times have we heard a pundit say "he'll be disappointed with that" when a keeper drops a bollock rather that "Jesus, that was ****" which is what we're all shouting at home?
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

                  Yep.

Never demonstrated better than when you see our friend Jamie talking about Chelsea, especially his buddies Terry and Lampard.

                    Sometimes you just can't win.
Shaggy mate, do you mean Graham Taylor worhsips Rafa? I am aware of Taylor being very complimentary towards the club and fans, both on the radio and in print. Not so sure about Pleat though?

I tend to agree about Pleat and Taylor. I like Taylor a lot, seems to be an extremely humble, amiable and astute bloke. As for Pleat, although he can come across as somewhat pompous, he is still quite perceptive and very tactically aware. Compare his analysis to that of John Barnes last night on C5 and you'll see what I mean.

Er, thanks for that. I got about 30 seconds in before I couldn't be bothered wasting any more of my life on it. It's about as far as I usually get watching youtube vids posted on here.

                      Had Dunphy been drinking?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I wonder how much of what they say they actually believe or if they are just deliberately being wind up merchants and trying to be controversial.

You beauty, thanks so much for putting that up.
Was watching on RTE and they never showed it, just went to stadium for when it kicked-off.

That was ****ing beautiful, just leaves you lost for words. Unmatched anywhere else on earth, don't care what anyone says.

No I mean Pleat - although Taylor is also clearly a big fan of Benitez.

Barnes was woeful last night, poor fella. Normally, in a relaxed, casual situation, he talks a very good game. In a presenting or co-commentary role, he's really poor. He seems to go to pieces.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I don't like the strings arrangement in places though. I'd never noticed it before.

It's a shame isn't it? I used to worship the guy when he was tearing up defences in the football league for us in the late 80s. It's a shame seeing someone you admired making themselves look hapless and out of their depth.
