Yeah we should have been comfortabley ahead at half-time, at least 2 or 3.
It's all down to sheer bad luck, nothing else.
JAR hit a few beautys early doors, deserved a goal did ginger.

Over many different threads Kurt, that is the main question we have all been asking?

We were superb for much of the match and gave Barca more than a few scares. They were on the ropes right up until they scored. If only Eto'o had been wearing a Liverpool shirt tonight. I'm certain that he'd have scored some of the chances that Bellamy missed.

I thought we were superb and everyone deserves credit. If we'd had a bit more luck we'd have buried them before half time.

          He has a proper haircut.

He's kept the best teenager in the world quiet twice.

          That is all.

good point about his hair mate.
I always worry about he haircuts of the Latin players. They always seem to go for the long hair girlie type cut rather than the proper short all over cut real men have.

Take Puyol for example, great player but you couldn't have him at LFC with that cut could you. Imagine him playing alongside carra with his number 2 all over style.

Carra's my type of man, no nonense player, no nonsense hair cut

Forget their haircuts. I had about 5 Barca fans sat round about me on the number 17 bus on the way to the match tonight and they all stank of ****. Believe me haircuts were the last of their worries.

Did they show him on TV urging the Lower Centenary (where I was sat) to crank the noise up even more?

As I've said in the Stevie Finnan thread, I thought Arbeloa had another solid game tonight playing out of position. We need a left back who can defend unlike Aurelio and Riise who are both better going forward. If Finnan is unfortunately injured then Arbeloa should get a good run in his best position at right back...

Looks a quality signing so far. Competent in the one on one situations and he always looks so assured.

Arbeloa was switched to LB to counteract Messi cutting in therefore putting Arbeloa on his good footing all the time - masterstroke that nullified Messi over 2 legs.

considering he was only about 2.5m and we'll get loads more for getting through against barca even if he doesn't play again he's done hsi job and payed for himself.
i do think he looks tidy and will provide good cover across the back 4 (and as he says himself in that interiew left wing!)

i wouldn't object to him playing left back more often and pushing JAR into left mid as JAR is arguably better there, more of a goal threat than speedy and fitter than kewell.

                          finnan is untouchable for me.

I was also very impressed with Arbeloa.

He seems a solid defender who is calm on the ball. To be put in against Barca twice within the first month or so at his new club tells me everything I need to know about the lad - we've a decent signing here, and one that can cover right across the back four which is a bonus.

                            Another good signing by Rafa!
