Arsenal are competing with Barcelona for Olympique Lyon defender Eric Abidal, admits his agent, David Venditelli.

Venditelli revealed yesterday in Gazzetta dello Sport that Abidal will reject all offers from Italy after being the subject of racist abuse from Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi in the first-leg of their Champions League tie.

"He thinks Italian football is racist," said Venditelli. "He prefers Spain or England."

The agent went on: "For his future, Barcelona is in first position, followed by Arsenal. Liverpool are insisting on him, but Eric has other plans."

Everytime ive seen him he's been shocking, dont see where he's got this reputation from, then again there does seem to be a lack of top class left backs so any average ones get elevated to best in Europe status
