I'd have thought Carra would play in the centre with Terry with Ferdinand injured and Campbell not in the squad.

Interesting to see Kirkland there though!
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

      Ashton receives England call-up
West Ham striker Dean Ashton has received his first England call-up as new coach Steve McClaren prepares his first squad to face Greece.
Defender Sol Campbell and keeper David James have been left out, while McClaren has also omitted former captain David Beckham.

Jermain Defoe, Phil Neville, Wes Brown, Chris Kirkland are back in the squad.

Luke Young, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Kieran Richardson and striker Darren Bent are also re-called.

It would be good to see Carra and Terry in the middle. I'm interested to see how they work together, I think they will be good but they will lack a bit of pace.

Wright Phillips is also back in.
It will be interesting to see how McLaren uses Stevie.

One thing's for sure, McvLaren has already shown he has more balls than that Sven character. Let's just hope that things get better for England

I don't think we'll be seeing Steve on the right...
McLaren has to come up with something new so I'll go for Lennon or SWP (depends on his Chelsea status) for a starter.
If that doesn't work out SG could be sent out there

I don't think it's anything to do with balls. I just think McLaren wants to distance himself as much as he can from the Sven regime he was apart of. So he's gone for what will be seen as a brave and popularist move. When in reality it's a friendly which Beckham wouldn't be match fit for anyway. Let's see if he leaves him out come the qualifiers.

I'd be very surprised if Beckham was left out come the qualifiers. Although I don't think he is good enough anymore for a starting 11 place his experience would be needed to help Lennon and SWP

Can't believe he has revived the Ugly brothers by pulling back in Phil cocking Neville.

McClaren favoured 352 (sometimes more 532) during his time at 'Boro and with Dawson also in the squad I think we could see three at the back.

He's been saying that England will play in a style that the fans want - so more 3-2 than the 1-0 that Svennis was married to (insert joke here ) from his Italian days.

It was also just mentioned by one of the BBC5Live correspondents that Defoe & Ashton (who has slimmed down and bulked up musclewise this summer) will start up front.
