Yeah, I know what you mean. 61,000 sounded big, but still miles behind the biggest stadiums, 70,000 is right up there with the biggest stadia in the UK.

I can't fathom how the infastructure can handle that many people though

Yes I think Mr Hicks knows a thing or eight about stadiums. However I suspect he knows feck all about local councils. He might want another 9,000 but I expect Liverpool council to moan like a drain. More money into the local infrastructure should keep people quiet.

Plus the yanks do business differently, they'll probably get photos of a few councillors in dodgy positions and black mail their way along.

see i thought that we just had to prove we had the cash rather than start digging.

then again, the 9m we might lose compared to the extra revenue of 9,000 seats a couple of times a month probably covers it quickly.

Maybe to smooth the new application of 70,000 we'll forgoe that grant money (though i thought it was for the area rather than the ground)

Thanks rushy. 70,000 wow that is plenty of REDS but how we're gonna fill the stadium when we play smaller clubs in the carling cup & fa cup ?
I thought 60-61000 was good enough.

Now that's more like it. 20,000+ on the ST waiting list. We'll fill it no doubt.

I thought the figure is closer to 20 million?

Which isn't too bad, when you consider the Emirates is 15m away from the stands behind the goal ends.
8 metres is like a mile compared to the distance it is at anfield! Good news with more seats though

That would be amazing if we could have 70,000 seats. Don't know how they'll persuade the council but if anyone can the yanks can.

how can they increase the capacity without first ensuring that local infrastructure such as transportation are improved first.
great news if it is true
and yes 8m is still a long way
thats what it is at the side of the emirates its only 15m at the 2 ends isnt it
