I don't think we will need to re-apply for planning permission. As I understand it, the new architects' brief is to see how they can change the design to increase the capacity within the constraints of the approved application.

The planning was granted on the basis its for a 61,000 seater stadium for the sole purpose of Liverpool FC

The reason we applied for 61,000 and not 70,000 or 80,000 was the infrastructure restrictions the council put on the larger capacities

I know its to do with the infrastructure still no getting away from the fact we would have to re-apply for planning permission if we wanted a 70,000 seater stadium

The current planning appplication allows 61,000 seats as far as I know there are no options within the planning consent to increase it beyond that, whether we meet the previous infrastructure requirements or not

You should also remember that it would again have to be referred to the government AGAIN (because we are building on Stanley Park which is a protected and listed site)

Yes money talks but for me the only way it will be done without a lengthy delay would be to build it as per planning consent then apply to extend it at a later date

I think it will mate. Dunno about ****ing rugby (surely we can't allow 30 odd fat ******* meatheads to plod around cutting up our pristine pitch?), but I'm pretty sure GG said something along the lines of having gigs and other events at the stadium to increase our revenue.

They've already said that they are thinking of using the stadium for concerts etc. Sounds interesting news, but Lec is right about planning permission being granted for 61k being based on access and impact on the immediate area. 70k would require new planning permission.
