    Sorry but thats nonsense

The planning was granted on the basis its for a 61,000 seater stadium for the sole purpose of Liverpool FC

The reason we applied for 61,000 and not 70,000 or 80,000 was the infrastructure restrictions the council put on the larger capacities

The current planning appplication allows 61,000 seats as far as I know there are no options within the planning consent to increase it beyond that, whether we meet the previous infrastructure requirements or not

That's what I've always said too, Lec, and it's confirmed in the latest news on the stadium:

However, never underestimate the Americans and the power of money!

Edit: as for the "nonsense" comment... ...I'll ignore that as I'm only passing on information in good faith from someone who's worked on the project itself and knows the team at AFL who are now out on their arses...

Even with money its going to take time to re-apply

You should also remember that it would again have to be referred to the government AGAIN (because we are building on Stanley Park which is a protected and listed site)

Yes money talks but for me the only way it will be done without a lengthy delay would be to build it as per planning consent then apply to extend it at a later date

OK, Lec, clearly the Americans are talking "nonsense" and you know better...

They've already said that they are thinking of using the stadium for concerts etc. Sounds interesting news, but Lec is right about planning permission being granted for 61k being based on access and impact on the immediate area. 70k would require new planning permission.

Either way I don't think a couple of super rich yanks would lose too much sleep over losing 9 million in public grants.

Aye it's pretty nifty that, what with the changing of colour relevant to whichever team is playing there. Even the seats change colour, don't they?

Still, nobody wishes for us to have that particular issue. **** groundshare.
