Thanjk you.

yes but the fact that building started today, straight after Gilett and Hicks have gotten unconditional control of the club seems to point that everything is going as originally planned.
I believe Hicks and Gillett (and/or Parry) had a meeting at the end of last week with Richard Leng and Garry Rowlands when they were told the bad news.
The guy Trousers mentioned was Steve Unwin who runs the Liverpool office and was probably also present.
Rushy sorry I couldn't be more specific I went up with my Dad to see the plans I did find out that AFL had an office in Old Hall Street wich was a surprise as I thought they were based in Manchester.
Tbh though it was pretty amateur, I mean whoever it was seemed quite flustered and certainly confused. I thought to myself this doesn't bode well.
When he mentioned about a single tiered Kop that could fit 22,000 in it after mentioning earlier that the designs on show were more or less final me and my Dad left pissing ourselves. Both ends in the design were equal so how could one end hold 22,000 and the other 13,221.
I couldn't see how it could be done and keep the end the same size. It's like that episode of the Simpsons were Skinner's mother is in the supermarket and going to the bag boy I want all my groceries in one bag but I don't want that bag to be heavy.
So again sorry Rushy I didn't catch his name but you were right in an earlier post the new ground does seem like an identikit stadium.
Just to be clear I hate Rick Parry with a ****ing passion and no I don't want to talk about it.
Just a question, is there any reason why we are emotionally tied to the AREA of Anfield as the location for our stadium.
I'm emotionally tied to the Anfield stadium but if we leave that then my only concern is to leave it for a stadium that was worth leaving for.
I never had any enthusiasm for the move with the old new stadium.
It looks like we have finally got the ruthless decisiveness this club needs.
As a South Liverpool lad, personally I thought the best option was Speke where I believe the local councillors were desperate to build the stadium to help further regenerate the area. The roads, other transport links and general infrastructure would have been much better if we built near the airport IMO. However, it seems that redevelopment of North Liverpool is considered more of a priority and bigger grants were available. Looking at the regeneration of East Manchester and North West London with Eastlands and Wembley and Ashburton Grove respectively it's difficult to argue against staying in L4.

Reason: perfectionism as always...
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.
You're entltled to your opinion XIG but the information came directly from one of the original architects on the project who is a very good mate of mine. He's always given me reliable information in the past (check out my previous posts on here and KT for proof) and I've no reason to doubt him. Christ, I've even named his ex-boss if you look back through this thread FFS!
Why would my source or his-colleagues say AFL have been sacked? I am sure this information is 100% accurate. What I can't vouch for is whether the new architects will have any success increasing the capacity to 70,000 but the shortsightedness and unimaginative design appears to be why AFL have been replaced.
The original design could've been seen as unimaginative but also it wasnt expandable
Personally I think thats a key point in the stadium move, it has to be expandable if we are to continue to grow over the coming years
Maybe thats why the original architects were sacked
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
That makes sense. we start digging and get the grants while behind the scenes the new architects tweek the plans to enable the stadium to be expandable at some later date.
What's stopping us making a planning application now and expand our stadium as it's being completed...in 2-3 years time...? Given that infrastructure is also taken care of.
Building a non-expandable 61,000 stadium was a bit of a cheyrou, and we all know it.
The infrastructure isnt taken care of
When the initial project was suggested and discussed and we talked about 70-80 K capacity the council recommended we put in a rail link. The nearest railline is near Anfield Cemetary this was one of the reasons why the costings of a 70 K plus seater stadium were almost double that of a 60 K seater
I tend to believe that the design will be tweaked to allow future expansion
Any other increase in capacity would mean returning to the planning and public consultation process which would again mean a lengthy delay

But to sack them now and not initially proves to me that the club did lack some of the business acumen of the americans. They didn't wait any longer in sacking them or looking for alternatives, whilst we still sat with the same plans on the table for all these years.
But the club's hands were probably tied with insufficient cash.
