The dimensions guarantee that atmosphere will just float away.

It has been around for a while, and ive never liked it. And i like it less now. Speaking as a designer it is particularly lacking in elegance and i would hope that things have been significantly refined since this concept was submitted for planning approval. The corner protrusions are very 'reebok'-esque and the proportions are all over the shop. Having said that ive seen the new wembley and think it looks abysmal from the outside - yet spectacular from the inside. So Lets hope that the design team are really focussing on getting the crowd close to the action and that theyve tried everything to emphasize atmosphere inside - including the concept of a single tear Kop end. If this is right i could forgive what it looks like outside.
Think the emirates is the best looking new stadium for some time yet i hear the atmosphere is ****e inside.
I hope that it goes without saying that capacity has also been considered - even if the planners have been consulted on future expansion. We are catching up with united - yet we are still 15,000 off their capacity and by the time we get new anfield constrcuted, we could be in excess of 20,000 behind?Last edited by Mr Tourette; 13-03-07, 03:10 PM.

CondescendingOriginally posted by hockin_monster View PostAnd there was me thinking it as us, the fans, that made the atmosphere !!
How little I know.
You think it will have the same impact of noise when you are shouting from about 100 yards from the pitch? The noise of the Kop is compact which means that you can feel it as it's almost trapped. I'm not saying that there wont be any atmosphere from the fans, I'm just saying that it will not sound the same but then I think you probably realise that unless you believe you get the same atmosphere in full capacity bar with live music as you do at a gig in Wembley stadium.

but IMO we should be aiming at a stadium in a similar mould of Boca's stadium. Its a magnificent stadium.
Others that stand out in my mind are, Sporting Lisbons and Allianz Arena (fantastic design).
The use of mosaic tiles on Sporings stadium is a nice touch, and really give the stadium an arty feeling."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Nicey
