    What next for Sami?

So what does next season hold for the big finn?

I hope to god, he's still with us but 33 and now playing 2nd fiddle to Daniel Agger in the Liverpool defence you could hardly blame
the big man for looking to going elsewhere and getting regular football for a year or two before hanging up the boots.

    Oh Sami, Sami......

I think he'll still be around next year, and he'd accept 20-25 games a year.

Still is a Premiership standard CB.

We don't really have a back-up CB with the quality needed to fit straight in so Sami is our really, only option until the end of the season. But past that what are everyone's thoughts on him going to a club like Portsmouth because even though he lacks pace he is still the Sami of old.

id rather him go out on a 2 year "loan", so he was, and remains our player, then after his playing days are over come back and coach the youngsters.

What's wrong with possibly making a bit of money out of a possible transfer and inviting him back when he retires?

I reckon - and hope - that he will stay with us for 1 or 2 more seasons and rack up enough games to get a Premiership winners medal
before returning home to Finland to wind down his career.

Undoubetdly one of Ged's best purchases - absoutely dominant in the air, and was a defensive stalwarth for us for years.

I think he could still do a job for us as back-up CB next season, but I wouldn't be surprised if a move to a slower paced league was on the cards.

              Hope he stays, though.

As good as he was, I think he's just about hanging on at the moment to being good enough for LFC.

I think if we can bring in a good centre back its time to say good bye due to his lack of pace. I guess if we dont need the cash we could keep him for emergencies, but I wouldnt want him in the first team on a regular basis next year. If we are to dominate teams we need the centre backs pushed up to the half way line and his lack of pace would leave him exposed.

He's been absoloute class, but being sentimental doesnt win premiership titles.

they would let him go on a free for his service, i personally wouldnt want his record to be blighted by a 2 year stint at bolton before coming back to us...if hes on loan hes still our player!! ha ha thats my logic and im sticking to it!!!

I don't see the sense in overhauling parts of the squad which are working fine. The defence had been great all year. We will undoubtedly phase Agger in as the number one partner to Carragher and by the end of this season Sami will be back up alone. This seems like a sensible move as each year he seems to say he needs longer to recover between games.

We will undoubtedly bring in at the very least 4 players over the summer. I really don't think we need to add to the disruption by selling Sami when he would only be cover and help us to ease in the more promising of the young centrebacks we have been buying.

He'll have more season at the club next season, then leave.

One of the best center backs ever to play for the club. Legend.

We have no-one at the club who can touch him aerially. And v few in the Prem for that matter. We need him next year for selected games. Defo reckon he will stay.

He will do next year what he did this year, fight for a place and get selected for the opposition being faced.

He can also stand in and give playing players a rest.

                              It's called a whole squad.
