A club spokesman said: "There is a total commitment to a new stadium but the new owners are conducting a thorough review of the current proposals, to see if there is any way they can be improved."

Just like they did a very quick due dilgence on us and concluded the deal, sounds as though they are going to do a quick but thorough review of the scheme and see if it can be improved. One option being looked at seems to be building a bigger stadium than OT - the biggest in the country. Doesn't sound like lack of ambition or anything to worry about to me and they're obviously aware of the urgency and have shown they can work quickly and effectively in the past. They just want to see if their experience of building stadia in the US and greater resources can improve the plans they inherited.. Sounds good to me.

I'm sure the stadium will get built quicker with the current regime than with the old regime. A change of capacity would probably have meant 2-3 years for the old regime. I think the yanks can get things done a lot quicker.

Let's be realistic though, increasing the capacity from 60,000 to 80,000 still means a hell of a lot of changes.

At least three years before it's ready I would have thought, probably more.

Thinking about it, I reckon they are going all out to build an expandable 61,000 stadium - that's the crux of it really. If they can great - they can tackle the thorny issue of 70,000+ fans more leisurely.

They took 3 days for due diligence.

I would say fighting with the council, gaining planning permission and ultimately building an 80,000 seater stadium could take a good while longer.

Depends on who is negotiating. 2 dollar billionaires who have no emotional ties to the area or Moores and Parry.

It may have only took 3 days, but that's because Gillett on his own had a lot longer to run the rule over the books earlier in the year!

Actually I listened to this hour long interview with GG after the takeover, when he went back to the US, and he said they'd been dong due diligence before the LFC board had given DIC exclusivity, so all that was required was a quick check to see nothing major had happened since.

It was posted on here so you might want to search back for it....

the other thing is changing the stadium plans is a hell of a deal, the old stadium wasn't expandable so it's pretty much back to the drawing board in away, it a completely different stadium if its 80.000 whole lot of structural work, and support that needs to be redisigned, and then it's the transport issue...
