If I would have to pick three players that I would love us to sign then Alves, Villa and Lahm would be my choices.

We need a right winger and Alves is World class, he has proved that week in week out against whatever team Sevilla have played against.

Villa have also proved that he is World class against top class teams.

Lahm is also a proven World class player.

Three players that would fill in at three of our weak positions.

Lahm can also play right back and Alves can play in a lot of positions.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I saw the goal against Celtic, and I do consider Eto'o world class, I´m on the fence with Villa but I feel the same logic should be applied to Lampard and Kaka for example. Lampard has created and scored in double figures each for two seasons running now and this season isn´t over yet.

lampard is a good goalscorer but he is nowhere near in the same league as kaka as a footballer!

I think Lampard has about 10-15 assists in the league to his name now, Kaka is probably better but I haven´t seen enough of him to make that judgement. If he came to the Premiership I´m not sure he´d do that much better than Lamps or Gerrard overall.

thats coz fatty lampshade is all tucked up nice and comfy in his chav formation that requires him to do no running or tackling of any kind. i bet i cover more ground getting the paper in the morning then lampshade does in 90 minutes. any player would have those stats if all that was asked of them was to stand at the top of the box and shoot everytime they get the chance. put him in a system where he's required to work for the team and he's utter, utter, ****e- embarrassingly spastic and limited. like he is for england

i take your point but for me lampard is a limited player who makes the most of what hes got but i think he looks really out of his depth against the top teams in europe and when playing for england! i see quite a bit of kaka and i can assure you that he is lightyears ahead of lumpard!

Fair enough, but I still think Lampard is undervalued by Liverpool fans, have to correct me he has 9 assists this season and 11 goals (quite a few pen´s). If Gerrard played his role I´m not sure he´d do as well though, although Gerrard is better overall.

I think i'd be very happy if we signed that trio
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

I would have to say that some people dont understand the term "World Class". Basically if you are in the higher echelons of your position you are World Class.

If there was no one better at football than me I would be described as World Class. For those saying C.Ronaldo is not World Class, name a better RW around at the moment, there isnt one. He may not compare to the great players of the past like Pele, Maradona and Cruyff, but that doesnt mean hes nor currently World Class.

Regarding who Liverpool should sign, I think its fairly simple. Any player who can come in and improve our first team is a player that should be cosidered.

Richards - No. Lennon - Yes. Alves - Yes. Bale - No. Villa - Yes.

Of course if we improve the relevant positions and still have cash left over, then by all means sign a player who will probably end up top draw like Bale and Richards. but first off lets improve the first team.

Not 5 or 6 youngsters who will take 4 seasons to bed in, with the American's money surely this summer is the ideal opportunity to get some world class players in.

3 would be more than enough in my opinion as we have probably one of the strongest squads in the league however we need 2/3 players that will instantly go into the 1st team and make a significant difference.

                        My choices: (no particular order)
                        Aaron Lennon
                        David Villa
                        Micah Richards

Cost us a fortune no doubt but sure if we want to be in a with a shout of number 19 then the cash will need to be splashed.

Sorry mate, he shows promise but he wouldnt improve our first team. Pennant is far better IMO. Think back to how good Pennant looked at the brum and he was playing at the top level. Barnes is in the Championship and shows promise, but hes along way from being a starter for a top 4 club.

I would like a definitive list of all world class players, both past and present. Please.

Incidentally, I'm starting to wonder whether the general feeling against Fat Frank's status as a very good (forget the "world class" debate for a moment) is not helped by the fact that most of us only get to see him regularly on telly. Maybe he's the kind of player that tends not to get noticed much, at least until he has one of those long range punts that either veers towards the corner flag or strikes a defender on the elbow and shoots past the keeper into the net. Maybe he does a lot of things that tend to go unnoticed at least if you're not at the ground watching him closely. Maybe he's actually pretty good, as his scoring record alone would tend to indicate.

Just a (no doubt heretical) thought.
                                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
