IMO Berbatov is just the current player in form that we tend to fawn about. Good, but I'm not going to over him

      Agreed.

He is this weeks talk of the town.

Decent player, but not the stand out one we need.
      Look at his goalscoring rec.

Berbatov is clearly a top player in my book. He's better than anything we've got and would be a cracking addition to the squad. However, I'd be stunned if spurs let him go.

                Your calculator's ****ed

It's slightly better than Crouch, but worse than Kuyt's

I like Berbatov a lot, he's probably only finding his feet now, but IMO Spurs wouldn't let him go for less than £20m, and I dont think he's worth that.

He is no Ian Rush/90's Fowler - which is what we're in the market for

I would have signed him for the price Spurs paid for him, about £10mish.
But I would not be paying the inflated fee that may be asked for him now. Although I think he is under-rated by a few on here.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                        * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

The problem is that only a few strikers is as good as a young Robbie, Rush or Owen.

All of them will cost a fortune to sign. All the others is a gamble.

If you want proven quality then you will have to pay a fortune because all the proven quality players plays for big clubs that don't need to sell.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'd look to Barcelona to sign Eto'o personally, ability wise and adapting to the PL i dont think he is as much of a gambel as Villa could be. But you could question his attitude.

He is a really class player IMHO. Got great vision and a lovely touch - reminds me of Bergkamp. I do agree that he is not the 20 goals a season Rushie/Owen/God type player we need but I'd be happy with him at Anfield if the price was right.

His goal the other night v Braga was great but his assist for Malbranque was just as good.

I don't think Rafa want Eto'o, his attitude stinks, just as Henrik Larsson. He said in interview on Swedish TV after he left Barca that it was no point to be in the box after Eto'o got the ball because he would look to finish the attack himself and never pass the ball.

Eto'o isn't a team player and never will be IMO.

He is an excellent finisher but as I said, his attitude stinks and he will always think about himself first and the team second.
