Thanjk you.
Paul.S
He's a good player, but recently gushing about him in the press has been WAY over the top.
He's scored EIGHT fecking league goals from TWENTY FIVE league games.
Is that any better than Kuyt, Bellamy or Crouch? Nope.
5 in 5 in the UEFA Cup - means feck all to me.
He'd cost a bomb and isnt particularly better than what we already have, IMO.
Rafa will look to bigger and better options, surely.
Agreed, he's the latest flavour of the month, just like people were saying "Oooh we missed out on Martins" when he was scoring a few a while back. We need to improve on what we've got and his League tally suggests he wont be doing that.

Yes but it's Berbatov's first season. Bergkamp, Henry anyone.
Berbatov is a much, much better player than Martins. I think Berbatov could do very well for us. But there's no credence in this story.

He is no Ian Rush/90's Fowler - which is what we're in the market for
Don't think there are players around who are at that level. I'm not being biased, but you're talking about a guaranteed 30+ goal a season player. Who can do that?
Henry - may never regain his pre injury form and we would never get him
Drogba - still needs another season to prove this isn't a once off and we would never get him
Eto'o - a possibility, but will need time to adapt to England
Villa - top class player, but won't score goals at that rate
It may be that the days of Rush and Fowler are gone.

Its Kuyts aswell yet 10s and 10s are writing him off on here, "we signed the wrong bloke" "he couldnt finish his dinner" etc etc
Yes it applies to Kuyt as well.
I think most (including myself) expected to adapt quicker as he seemed the archetypal British player. Still... there's the pace and the surroundings to adjust to.

I don't think Rafa want Eto'o, his attitude stinks, just as Henrik Larsson. He said in interview on Swedish TV after he left Barca that it was no point to be in the box after Eto'o got the ball because he would look to finish the attack himself and never pass the ball.
Eto'o isn't a team player and never will be IMO.
He is an excellent finisher but as I said, his attitude stinks and he will always think about himself first and the team second.
Which is exactly the type of striker we need.
Someone who gets the ball in the box...and sticks it in the back of the net. He has the self confidence to know he will score more times than not, and his record speaks for itself TBH.
To often we stuff around and try walk the ball into the back of the net, something Arsenal are also guilty of.
Its the difference between us and the top 2....they take chances, we dont. Simple really.
Eto'o would go a massive way to fix this problem....someone selfish, who knows how to finish....but also works hard without the ball.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
