    Dan Guthrie

I like the look(footballing sense) of this lad, he looks a quality all round player.

Watched the majority of the Saints, Colchester game and he was probably thier most potent player, he has an eye for a pass, a good engine,
a decent strike, good technique and not afraid to put the boot in.

Hopefully he'll continue to progress and become a fixture in the LFC squad in the not too distant future although competition in the middle of
the field at the club is fierce, mighty fierce.

    Here's hoping
"Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

        tink that?

Well, for a start to get a game he has to get past Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Mascherano, and (cough) Zenden.

        Not easy, or remotely possible

"no good" is probably wrong, but is he International class - because if he isn't (which I don't tink(!) he is) then he will not make it at LFC.

Unfortunately for him, he's not first choice for his country, even at his age group. We need to be looking out for the (few) players who are first choice, and key to their teams play. This builds both skill and responsibility. Not to mention social skills.

                  Potter II.

I think the guy is better and has the potential to possibly play in the Premiership, but realistically speaking, he's never going to "make it" for us. Much like Potter, this is shop window for him.

Midfield is probably the worst place for youths to be coming through at liverpool - when someone does make it you have a Gerrard on your hands - Guthrie has to improve 100% to make that step I'm afraid

One is a versatile central midfielder, the other is a right-winger who likes to hog the touchline.

What has one got to do with the other?

Yup I agree, it's not as if he's coming in to replace say, a 32 year old Didi... if you look at our CMs they're all young

                          Alonso 25
                          Sissoko 21
                          Gerrard 26
                          Mascherano 22

Still years and years left in their careers. Unfortunately for Guthrie he's come through at the wrong time. Looks a good player, if he does leave then hopefully he'll end up at a PL club.

Well, when I have seen him, he has looked a decent player.
Much better than Potter, whom someone has compared him with in this thread.
It will be tough getting a game for LFC though, but I would like us to keep him for a couple of years as a squadie. We could do worse for a backup player.
