    Am I the only one with the same feeling now as the one I had about 18 months before Houllier left ?

    That kind of sinking realisation that maybe, despite the Cups, this manager isn't the right man to take us forward.

      chelsea forward line = £54million
      Man U forward line = 40million
      Liverpools = 18million

      I reckon with a 20million striker we would have seen different results this yr.

      Remember Rafa has to concentrate on tactics as this squad is not good enough to compete at the top week in, week out.

      Rafa is the man, and besides there is no-one else in the world at the moment who jumps out as a great choice.

      Give him the money, give him a chance and then lets see.

      and Rafa has got class, something that very few managers have nowadays, he is a liverpool manager through and through.

        Rafa deserves the benefits of another 2-3 seasons. Lets see what he is able to do with the American dosh, where he is able to buy his first choice picks instead of the Pennants of the world.

          Baros
          Morientes
          Cisse
          Mellor
          Pongolle
          Crouch
          Kuyt
          Bellamy
          Fowler

          Sorry mate, but when it comes to strikers Rafa doesn't have a ****ing clue about buying them, selling them, training them, or getting the best out of them.

            None of those are £20 million strikers though. That is a list of gambles that unfortunately have not come off.

            Cisse and Mellor weren't his buys anyway

              cheers mate saved me the bother!!

              Would love to see Rafa pay big, big money for a player....he has paid big for Alonso(qualified success) and Kuyt( first season but done ok)

              and even then 11million for a striker is jack **** in todays market.

                Crouch has done well and we will get more money back
                Bellamy as above
                Fowler ten yrs to late
                Kuyt first season

                  Baros= Ged
                  Cisse=Ged
                  Mellor=Homegrown
                  Pongolle= Ged
                  Crouch= £7million
                  Bellamy=£6million
                  Morientes=£6million
                  Kuyt=£9million
                  Fowler=Free

                  We've spent a net total of £25million on strikers (Morientes sold for £3million) in Three years Chelsea spent £24million on one player that's what Rafa's up against Rooney+Saha=£38million.

                  Liverpool in it's history has only ever gone over £10miliion on four occasions three times by Ged and once by Rafa (Xabi=£10.7million), until Rafa can Compete on a level playing field then it's unfair to judge him. And before anyone mentions Arsenal they are in the same boat as ourselves it's just that they let Wenger control everything football wise thus they have a far better youth system in place were they are prepared to pay for and develop youth as a matter of priority, unlike ourselves, it took Rafa to have a go at the people running the club after the Arsenal Debacle before we started to get in gear with youth signings hence a spate of youngsters since january.
                  Just to be clear I hate Rick Parry with a ****ing passion and no I don't want to talk about it.

                        Rafa looks for strikers with a work ethic first.
                        Few top level goalscorers have that, they are goalscorers and headline grabbers first, arrogance and selfishness is what they possess in abundance and its a huge requirement to be the very best, goalscorer-wise.
                        I would be amazed if we see somebody along the lines of Etoo join us this summer.

                                rafa looks for strikers with work ethic first???? Ye he went for Kuyt and crouch.,.....but how does anyone know what he would do with £20million plus for a striker.....personally i reckon he will go for the one who can bang it in the net the most!!!

                                When the jigsaw pieces come togethor and we can get better players on the wings/ful backs and the strikers dont have to do as much .....lets see who he buys then!!

                                Do you ever think he buys players not because of how good they are, but more that they are versatile and cover defincies in our team?
