Where did it all go wrong Rafa?

After reading Rafas comments from the other day i dug this out of my inbox and wondered what Rafa had done to let the scum go years ahead of us on the field(his words)

    Dear Liverpool supporter,

United are one of the best teams in England and we played at the same level
as them on Sunday. To me it shows we are another step higher, on another l
evel. It is a good point. United are a top-three team. Last season we lost
to them, but this time we drew and controlled the game. Now we need to see
how we play against Chelsea and Arsenal. We can improve but we are now cont
    rolling games and going forward.

Of course the lack of goals concerns me but I prefer to look at the positiv
es. We have kept four clean sheets in a row and that is a positive thing. O
kay we need to score goals but that will come. We wanted to win the game bu
t they are a very good team and both teams didn't create many chances. Last
season we lost twice to this team so we have got a point this time.

I thought Peter Crouch did a good job for us in attack. We tried to get the
ball to him early and then play off the first or second ball but they are
a good team with good players and sometimes it's not easy to break them dow
    n. There were two or three balls in the box when Steven Gerrard and Luis Ga
rcia almost got on to them. We tried to play wide and on the counter attack
but as I said they are a good team and you need to be at your best and pla
y really well to beat them.

People ask if this result suits Chelsea but I am only interested in my team
and we are improving. We are now at the same level as Manchester United an
d we will keep on improving.

We don't even need to look to other teams to see where we have lost ground this season, the real problems have been with us, and our inability to be clinical in the final 3rd of the pitch.

        Same old story...

Its very dissapointing to be some 21 points adrift from the top again, with 8 games to go.

This progress we hear about is where exactly? People can say we're a better team now than we were 3 years ago, but at the end of the day progress is relative to the progress made by other teams and on that basis we haven't progressed at all.

In my opinion, as has been mentioned, Rafa has purchased too many workhorses and not enough class. Maybe this will now change in the summer.

Lets just hope that we can do it in the CL, I really do think we've got a great chance, just a pity little Luis won't be there.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Agree fatz Lil Luis is missed being missed and i suppose in fairness to Rafa he has had to buy in bulk to cover positions lets just hope this summer its quality instead of quantity.

That's a point, is Luis likely to feature at all before the end of the season?

I don't believe so. We'll miss him in europe.

For slightly different reasons to the rest of us I suspect!

I have a gut feeling Rafa will not be here next season. If we are still 2 or 3 years away from the top, in his opinion, I think the lure of those b'stardas at Madrid may be too much this summer.

I will be devatstaed if he goes, absolutely devsasted.

squad not settling early part of the season seems to be a hall mark of Rafa, I think we need to stick with the players that are most familiar with Rafas system at the start of a season and bed the rest in slower than we have done in previous seasons.
I dont think anythign is going wrong as such. right now, despite the recent blank at villa, we are a match for any club side in the world in a one off game, and we proved it against Barca & Man U recently (despite the loss).
I dont think we are in as bad a shape as people think, sure we need better attacking player to convert more chances, but im confident they willc ome in the summer and im also optimistic about how our youth setup is going.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                          * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

                              Wrong?

                              My ideas:

                              1) His tactics are too defensive in the PL.
                              2) His tactical approach is more like chess, and not working at the same level in the PL as in Europe.
                              3) And a contradiction maybe, he should get back to the 4231. It suits our teams strenghts better. Midfield of Mascher holding, Alonso with more freedom and SG as one of the 3 attacking mids.

                              I thank you.
