Another kid gone out on loan

Spanish defender Miki Roque has joined League One side Oldham Athletic on emergency loan until the end of the season.
The talented centre half joined Liverpool in the summer of 2005 from Spanish second division side Llieda and has been a regular member of the reserve team.

Roque made his first team debut this season as a substitute for Xabi Alonso in the Champions League 3-2 defeat by Galatasaray in December.

He was part of last season's victorious FA Youth Cup winning team and scored in the final against Manchester City.

Nice. A good mate of mine is an ardent Latics fan, goes home and away, so I've asked him to keep me informed of his progress.

Apparently Roque will be on the bench as the Latics current pairing of Haining and Gregan are both playing very well. After those two they have no cover, hence Roque's signing.

Hope he gets to play rather than just warming his arse on the bench.

I remember pissing myself the first time I went there and saw the sign as you get there which proudly boasted "Oldham - Home of Tubigrip"

It was a Milk Cup away match in '85 , the away end then was just a field and it was absolutely fkin bitter. We beat them 5-2 and David Fairclough scored their 2

Back in the days when I was playing regular local football, in my early twenties, one of their scouts came to watch our match with an eye for one of our players. He spoke to one of our club members after the game about the player, and wanting him to go up and have a trial with them, but also asked about the talented right back we had - me!

Unfortunately I was older than what they were looking for at that time (I must have had a baby-face for him to ask about me in the first place)!

I would have turned them down anyway as I only had hopes (and still do despite being in my mid [to late]-thirties) to play for the Reds!

So, after that afternoon I've always had a soft spot for Oldham Athletic!

When it was astroturf they used ytop hire it out for corporate do's and stuff -I can remember I was clean through and got my foot caught underneath the astroturf - Looked a right pillock

I think that it would be a great idea for our ressies to play regularly in the lower divisions. Why hasn't anyone thought of it before?
