IMO. Every manager should get involved with the academies and youth set up. They should be keeping an eye on their production line for future stock.

I think there has to be a balance. Obviously a manager should be aware of players and the system at say Arsenal where the youth teams all play the same style as the first team has worked very well. However the management of the senior side is prone to change relatively frequently, the youth setup needs to be independant enough for this not to disrupt it's operation.
