    James McCarthy

He scored the winner tonight for the Irish u-17's against Greece:

"Kurtis Byrne made an industrious run down the right channel, turning inside his marker before teeing up McCarthy on the edge of the box, who controlled the ball before tucking a low shot past the goalkeeper into the corner."

Anyone heard any more on this 'superkid'? Any inside info?

P.S. Liverpool's Laurence Gaughan, Shane O'Connor and Michael Collins all played in the win.
I like to lurk, if that's ok with you

It's all gone quiet on the James McCarthy front, last reports were that he was deciding wheter to come to LFC or Celtic with a few other clubs also sniffing around him.

We'll probably hear more about him in the summer if (hopefully) he signs for us.

Sounds incredibly promising, although I do feel he might be on his way to Celtic.

In his shoes, I would do exactly that.

Yep it makes sense for him. He's a Celtic fan, and he'd be a lot closer to home there.

That's true but if we're getting the big Yankee bucks then would we be able to attract him in a similar way that Chelski have got quality young players in. Maybe the recent success of our youth setup might prove attractive?

Money won't be the issue in this case, he will get more than enough playing for Celtic till he is about 20 to 22 say, then he may do a KK, then again he may not.

Henrik Larsson could have played for any club in the world, yet he chose Celtic for over 7 years, believe me, Celtic is totally massive to a Scottish born Celt of Irish ancestry, he will want to get the playing for Celtic out of his system before he does anything else.

Yep, totally agree with that. He is still only a kid and being close to his family is important to him I'm sure. Celtic are a very similar club to LFC in regards to the special atmosphere that surrounds it i.e. Supporters, History, YNWA, etc. McCarthy is a Celtic fan and a mate of mine who is a season ticket holder at Parkhead had heard that he was gonna sign for Celtic but word is that he is torn between us and The Celts. Apparently Rafa is very keen on him and is pulling out all the stops to get him but I suppose time will tell.
