Reports emanating from Spain suggest Betis coach Luis Fernandez has made Gonzalez one of his top summer transfer targets.

Gonzalez is highly regarded in Spain after two successful seasons in La Liga with Albacete and Real Sociedad before moving to Anfield.

The Chilean winger has struggled for form and fitness since arriving at Liverpool last summer struggling to hold down a regular place in Rafa Benitez's starting XI.

The news has alerted Betis who are in the market for a left-sided midfielder for next season and reports suggest they have sounded out Gonzalez's representatives about a possible return to Spain.

However, it remains to be seen if Benitez would be willing to let Gonzalez leave Liverpool after waiting so long to sign him in the first place because of problems obtaining a work permit.

Betis have also lined up a move for Olivier Kapo should they fail in their bid for Gonzalez.

Kapo is currently on loan at Levante from Juventus and the Frenchman has impressed in La Liga.

The former Auxerre man is unlikely to break into the Juventus side next season and the Italian giants could consider offloading him permanently next summer

If he'd shown SIGNS of something, then yeah, but he hasnt.

And it's not like we're gonna be beating other clubs off with a stick later on if we turn down an offer for him now. We'll end up lumbered with him, same as we did with GH's jokers.

Well I think he has shown glimpses. Scored two or three goals early on (seemingly without breaking sweat, he’s been more of a goal threat than Pennant) but has since seen his season ruined by a sequence of injuries and a consequent loss of confidence.

You have to look at the bigger picture. To just dismiss him as “****e” is foolish.

Like I said, he’s young enough and talented enough to justify just a smidgen of patience.

Whilst I've been disappointed with him the lad deserves at least 1 more season to see what he can do. He needs to stay fit for a long period though.
