I also think he has the nack of scoring important goals, a la Garcia. He just hasn't played often enough to show this.

He kept his team up last year, and has had a few 'poachers' chances for us, bagging 3 in the process.

Well I think he has shown glimpses. Scored two or three goals early on (seemingly without breaking sweat, he’s been more of a goal threat than Pennant) but has since seen his season ruined by a sequence of injuries and a consequent loss of confidence.

You have to look at the bigger picture. To just dismiss him as “****e” is foolish.

Like I said, he’s young enough and talented enough to justify just a smidgen of patience.

The upshot of it is he'd never get into the kitchen of any of the other 'big 3', let alone their matchday squad.

He isnt of a sufficient quality for a title challenging side and dragging it out is only going to be futile and painful.

Morientes is a goalscoring machine in Spain. What Gonzalez achieved for Sociedad has little or no relevance now.

Personally, I haven't seen anything in Mark Gonzalez to suggest he's anywhere near good enough for a side that wants to challenge for the title.

By the way, he's not exactly a "kid" either...he's 22/23 ?

He's still a kid - Rafa thinks alot of him and quotes from the senior members of the squad were complementary to him aswell - would be very surprised to see him go so soon. Another one for next season I reckon.

I like the lad. Tries a bit too hard sometimes and when you do that things get over complicated. He's had a few injuries as well I suppose so with that and not playing every week it'll make things harder on Mark. Remember though Theirry Henry wasn't the same player we all know now in his first year at Arsenal. There's still time for Gonzo to shine.

course it has relevance.....it shows the kid has talent. He has had a load of crappy injuries this yr and a lot of wingers need a few games to get tgoing. i see absolutely no benefit in getting rid.
