You can just see when he plays that he needs games and a manager who will let him try and try again.
Sounds a lot like Smicer really. Some players need the right environment to shine, wether Liverpool/the Premiership is right for him it may be too early to say. The omens however aren't good.

The fact that he's had to deal with a number of injuries and the need to get back to fitness should be considered before some of you rush to buy his ticket back to Spain.

Agreed mate I think it's way to early to judge him, he's had an injury ridden season. He was beginning to show some form prior to his most recent spate of injuries.
I'd certianly give him some time.

Stepover was rubbish in his first season in the prem.
          That's the one...

Fact is, he's not a good dribbler and thats what we need. Look at it from an economic perspective: if he's kept for one more season it will be impossible to sell him - we'd only be able to loan him and at most he'd sell for £1.5 mill.

Sell him at the end of this season, we can still get £3 mill for him. I'd sell him now and remember, we got that Leto fella coming in - but our man Leto is also not the greatest dribbler in the world either but is a big goal threat - similar to Gamst Pedersen of Blackburn

And how much actual match action have you seen of Leto? I haven't seen many Lanus games on the telly myself.

Can't believe the amount of fans saying we should give up on him. For goodness sake, 1 season he has had. Not even 1 full season yet actually. Give the lad a chance to settle, he has a lot of potential.

He's got a hell of a lot of pace, he can cross, he's a good dribbler and he can score. Given a season or two and with a bit of luck on the injury front he could develop into a smashing player. I still have high hopes for him, he has youth on his side

I really thought he was a couple of years younger than that. I remember Gerrard saying he was no longer a kid a year or so ago and he is very right.

The basic point though that like (checks d.o.b.) Pennant, Gonzalez is probably not going to suddenly make vast leaps in ability. He might however be able to adapt to his new team environment better.

I've been to lucky enough to see him play 4 or 5 times on the telly and the net. He's decent and has got a good eye for goal - but like I said, he isn't the greatest dribbler of the ball but can beat a player if you get what I mean. Not a bad counter attacking player though

I remember listening to Legends and all the Mancs were ringing up saying he was ****e.

I would say Ronaldo showed infinitely more talent in his first season, than Gonzalez has in his.

It's right up there with the myth that Henry rarely scored in his first season at Arsenal and that Drogba was ****e in his first season for Chelsea.

This time last season a lot of Mancs were really on his case. He was very wasteful and I recall many Scumbags saying stuff like "I never want to see him take a free-kick for us again" and "he's a ****ing ponce".

His end product was often lacking but this season he's improved in leaps and bounds in that sense, scoring and making goals for fun. It's sickening.
