Hicks & Gillet - Shareholders Sell Up

Americans now own 98.6% of shares, so I guess they can take full control by compulsory purchase.

    Breaking news on Sky.

    Duo complete Liverpool takeover

Gillett and Hicks will be co-chairmen of Liverpool

Tom Hicks and George Gillett have completed their takeover of Liverpool after 98.6% of shareholders agreed to sell them their shares.

Under Stock Exchange rules, the remaining shares can be can now be purchased compulsorily.

The Americans had gained unconditional control of the club by passing the 80% share threshold, and the new mark brings their takeover to a conclusion.

The pair will now seek to re-register the club as a private limited company.

    More to follow.

I think it's quite amazing how only 1.4% refused (or didn't sell for whatever reason), think it shows how much everyone has been impressed with G & T and and also the incentives they were offering.

    edit-

After a quick bit of maths, it looks like there would be about 550 remaining shares out of something like 38000 think thats pretty conclusive really

Strange that for once, he wasn't vocal. Just shrugged his shoulders and got on with it (like he had a choice ).

Imagine what life would be like if Moores had sold out to him?

Obviously ive read most of the stuff thats been printed about him but was wondering why most are so anti-morgan?

I presume it's because Morgan really didn't have the financial clout behind him to take us to the next level that the Mancs and Chavs have achieved.
Once again we would have had to settle for second best in everything. If Rafa wanted his Ronaldiniho, he would have got, errrr Ronald.

Sometimes being a supporter of the club with a few million ain't enough when it comes to mixing it with the big boys. It only gets you as far as it got Moores in the end. Just my take on it like.

Just wondered whether there was something i was missing regarding our Mr Morgan...........

Well, i'm also not sure if he would have gone with a groundshare. He did state that he would 'prefer' LFC to have their own ground but never ruled it out.

i think its the way he went about it too, in one of the recent AGM's, him and his Mrs were arguing out loud etc.

Well, we're past the point of no return. For better and worse we are now part of the Hicks and Gillett family.
