    Barca linked with Sissoko raid

    sky

Reports in the Catalan press claim that Barcelona have included Liverpool's Mohamed Sissoko on a four-man shortlist as they look to strengthen their midfield.

According to Catalan daily Sport, Los Cules are keen to recruit a ball-winning midfielder in the Edgar Davids mould in time for next season.

Sporting director Txiki Begiristain has been charged with the task of bolstering Barca's options, and Sissoko, along with Valencia's David Albelda, Atletico Madrid's Peter Luccin and Yaya Toure of Monaco have all reportedly fallen under his gaze.

The dethroned European Champions appear to have little chance of coaxing Xabi Alonso from Anfield and could now try and bring Sissoko back to Spain where he previously enjoyed a spell with Valencia.

The Mali international performed superbly across both legs as The Reds knocked Barca out of the UEFA Champions League and his strong displays appear not to have gone unnoticed.

However Begiristain was reluctant to comment on specific names when quizzed on his recruitment plans.

"We are working for the next campaign but we will never talk about names in advance," Begiristain told Sport.

"It is logical because the speculation transmits to the press."
"I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

Yawn. They link themselves with another of our players.

If you can't beat 'em buy 'em eh?

Hahaha, can you imagine Momo in Barca's slick, accurate passing team

I think Momo is suffering the 'difficult second season' thing that often happens to young players.
I'd condsider swapping him for Eto'o though.

Ridiculous link, won't happen, not in the slightest

Yes that could be a decent bargaining tool as we need a proven goalscorer and we are well covered in central midfield. We could even allow Bolo to stay and provide some cover there.

I wouldn't say that it won't happen. It will be up to Rafa and what central midfield he will play. If Alonso and Mascherano will play a lot together then it may force Sissoko to leave.

A guess is that it's just his agent that have sounded out interested clubs if something would happen.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I really don't think Barca want Sissoko

Really can't see Rafa letting Momo go. I wouldn't want him to either.

It's obviously bull****. But I would love to get rid of Momo.

i think he'd fit in well at barca, he can manage the short passes. they just have to make sure that theres always a player close to him...

That depends on who their next manager is and they would need him or a player like him.

If we could get between £7,000,000 or £8,000,000 for him I'd sell in an instant. I like Momo, he works extremely hard, but he's limited in terms of ability.
