Fowler was never the same player after coming back from his injuries.

Owen since leaving us has spent one season on a bench and two seasons injured, all at a time when his career should be reaching its peak.

I would love to be proved wrong, but I feel it is too much of a risk to sign a player who has hardly played in 3 years, and expect him to carry on from where he left off before that.

He has played a lot in the last three years. He has been injured almost 16 months now, not three years.

He played in most of the games for Real, either from the start or coming off the bench. He had one injury and was out for two weeks when he played for Real. He had the best goals/minute in La Liga. You can't do anything better than that.

You can also look at it in another way. How much have England missed him? They can almost not score a goal because he is the only proven English goalscorer.

A fit Owen is a superstar but as I said and as you said, the problem is his fitness.

Rafa have showed that he want a fit Owen even after he signed for Newcastle and that is good enough for me. If Rafa is willing to forget what happened when Owen signed for Real and later Newcastle then that should be good enough for everyone to forget what happened if he would sign for us.

I doubt that it will happen but you never know.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

My mistake for opening a thread started by Marky and hoping to read something other than the usual dross we have come to expect from him and from the numerous other threads we've already had on this very same topic.

i dont like him but i think Owen would score goals. we badly need it.

my striker signings in order of preference(strikers we might have a chance of getting):
                                Eto
                                Villa
                                Anelka
                                Owen

Fact is Anelka would jump at the chance to play for us
