i never fancied him that much when he was with us anyway, i liked him, but he was never my favoret player, i also felt he mist to many chances. altough no people are saying he was a great finisher and finished most of his chances, and some have stats to state their case, bit thats not how i remember him, i remember him frustrate the **** out of me at times. don't get me wrong he was a great striker, but i just never saw the world class factor in him..."I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Agreed, he was never WORLD class, but the thing is, he's been the best finisher we've had for a fair few number of years.
We've really had some dross strikers since, and it was his goals alone, that brought us the achievements we had in that era.
The FA cup final of 2001 summed him up for me.Reece, get off my wife.:whatever:

You can also look at it in another way. How much have England missed him? They can almost not score a goal because he is the only proven English goalscorer.
A fit Owen is a superstar but as I said and as you said, the problem is his fitness.
Rafa have showed that he want a fit Owen even after he signed for Newcastle and that is good enough for me. If Rafa is willing to forget what happened when Owen signed for Real and later Newcastle then that should be good enough for everyone to forget what happened if he would sign for us.
I doubt that it will happen but you never know.
Owen wont be returning unless its on a Bosman
Hes far too much of a risk to buy even at £10-12 million especially after the concerns regarding him losing some pace after his metatarsal injury (since then hes had the cruciate ligament injury)Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. and Kuyt one year later thanks to Moores.Originally posted by Lecter View PostRafa wanted Owen & Kuyt 2 seasons ago
He ended up with just CrouchJust believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Wish we had got them
I know about the rumours regarding Owen, Lec. I happend to subscribe to a very famous web-****e at the time and was 'in the know'
I don't believe Rafa would have sold him if he really rated him. He would have done more to keep him IMO. That's what I believe anyway. I know that Owen wanted to leave and all that ****e but perhaps Rafa didn't do all he could to make him stay. So in my world part of me believes that Rafa doens't really rate OWen.

Owen only had one year left on his contract.
Rafa looked at the situation and sorted out the mess and sold Owen.
So he sold him for as much as he could get from Real at that time.
Rafa needed the money and Rafa knew that Owen would leave.
It has nothing to do with if Rafa rates Owen or not. He needed the money.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

That's what Balague wrote in "A season on the brink". That Rafa decided to sell Owen because he needed the money.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostYou can't possibly know that, no matter how many sentences you splash out trying to explain it.

It's staggering how short people's memories are. Either that, or how ungrateful they can be.
