Anybody else happy Stevie is not Captain

Initially when Beckham stepped down and the whole Stevie G Vrs Terry debate was raging I was a little ****ed off that Terry got the Nod. But seeing what is now happening to the English national team i am thinking thank **** he didnt get it. Just as much of a poison chalice as the England managers job and Stevie or Gero as the press have christened him is coming out of this circus smelling of roses.

As regular as clockwork The English National team get bigged up in the Press and when they inevitably get knocked out of competitions its a bloodbath. The England manager job is like buying a lottery ticket, you know you are not going to win but if you do boy oh boy will it be special.

Anyways glad Stevie does not have to put up with all the **** that is flying around now.

Tried to find that Irish radio wind up song from the last world cup ....(anybody got a link)

I dont want to upset you ... even though I would like too..... Ingerland are really **** .... your **** your **** and know you know it

i don't really follow england but i do think that a little abuse/reality check into the lives of these pampered millionaires- including gerrard- wouldn't do them any harm at all.

of course the hypocritical element was there for all to see at the game- they were booing stevie on a few occasions and then cheering when he scored.

having said that, the players play like **** for england and if i'd paid that much money to follow them regularly i'd be pissed off too. SG rarely plays well for england and it can't just be a position/player thing. it's not just coaching of mcclaren either as english players technical shortcomings in some aspects (mostly control and passing of the ball, just the basics like) have been exposed for generations.

to answer your question i am glad SG is not captain of england- too distracting and i'm glad the ingurland mob boo every now and then. will help remind him how good he has it at liverpool where even his ****ing farts are applauded like they are mana from heaven (lets face it his ego can be out of control at times)

all in all i have little sympathy for any of them. i'm just glad that carra is not appreciated in the same way outside anfield so is a bit withdrawn from it all

Bloody oath - said at the time it was a blessing.

I want him well and truely focussed on captaining Liverpool.

Nicey, when Terry was announced as England's new captain I remember posting at the time that I was delighted it wasn't Stevie. Being captain of a winning international side would be great for any player but it was obvious even then that Mclaren was going to be one of the worst England managers of all time. And the last thing we wanted was Stevie to have 'captain of the worst ever England side' hanging around his neck. Stevie is mentally fragile as it is...

How he took the job, when he knew and everbody else knew he was second prize is beyond me.
Totally and utterly out of his depth, never rated him as a club manager either.
He's a good No 2 with ideas above his station and capability.

I predict: McLaren out before June - Venables as caretaker - Hiddink to follow.
