    Heeeeeeeeere's the RATINGSSSSS!!!!

I know a lot of you were of the opinion that it "didn't really matter".

Well, it did. And we won. True to form Benitez picked an unpickable line-up. Perhaps a response to The Cnut's "beat them at 50%" bollocks?

Reina (7). Left helpless by a class striker

Finnan (6). Carried on where he left off: a quality RB who can over-lap. Question mark about the goal, though.

Agger (6). He and Carra were thrown together and did more than OK. Hope he stays fit and starts to challenge Sami

Carra (6). Apart from the Shev moment, looked good.

Riise (7). Who the fcuk was that divvy blabbing on about Johnny Rockets not being good enough to play against top clubs like Chelsea? Three goals so far in a two seasons. Haha.

Sissoko (8) MOTM. Some awful passing at times, largely outweighed by a fcuking MONSTROUS midfield display in general. Great to see.

    Zenden (5). Average.

Tennants (6). Not as great as his Euro display, but enough guile, pace and running to make us happy.

Gonzo (5). Pretty average really, should have done more damage to a wobbly Abramovich defence.

Garcia (6). Even when it doesn't always come off, he is so obviously one of the best, most creative forwards at Anfield.

Rodders (7). Did fcuk all for most of the game, as he allowed Shev to look what he is: a striker worth 10 times more and 10 times better. And then an unsaveable header from a great Bellers cross. Keep it up and you can save your place in the Liverpool side.

    Subs:

    Bellamy (7). A fcuking menace
Aurelio (5). Er, you're not in Brazil any more, son. But I LIKE you

    Gerrard/ Alonso (whatever) Brilliant players

Thought Reina might deserve an 8 for those saves just after half time, but otherwise, I agree.

I agree apart from your ratings on Zenden and Speedy. I thought Zenden actually did quite well. Not as good a passer as Xabi and Stevie but he battled hard for us. Speedy delivered some nice crosses and still possed a threat, although I do agree some more end product would of been nice.

I didn't think Crouch had the best game until the goal. Although he was isolated at times and the man behind him (Garcia) wasn't at his best IMO.

      Momo = BEAST!

Xabi was a waste of a substitute imo...his passing was woeful.

Momo was awesome again...he will win the Player of the Season award for sure.

Generally I was very pleased with the display today. Apart from Shevchenko's goal, they rarely threatened us. I thought Agger played well, and wasn't noticable (sign of a good CB display). Garcia quiet. Zenden was average (as usual). Pennant and Speedy did well out wide (Kewell should be worried). I thought Crouch and Alonso had poor games. Alonso was lucky not to go with 2 very high challenges after being booked. Bellamy great cross for the goal. Aurelio was solid and was unlucky not to score. Riise had a good game, Carra & Finnan = OK. Reina didn't have a lot to do. Momo = Boss.

We're on the edge of something very good. Another goalscoring striker and we will be there or thereabouts.

The 1st 11 from now on should be:

              Reina

              Finnan
              Carra
              Sami
              Riise

              Pennant
              Gerrard
              Alonso / Momo
              Gonzalez

              Kuyt (if we get him)
              Bellamy

Riena (7) - Made a couple of decent saves, not much he go to do with the goal

Finnan (6) - Pretty solid, Made some good attacking runs.

Cara (7) - Solid as usual

Agger (7) - This guy is going to be a class player if he stays injury free

                Riise (7) - Great goal

Pennant (6) - not as good as the euro game but provided width and good pace.

Sissoko (9) - Outstanding. Great tackling, Never stops running, Showed great skill at times.

Zenden (6) - Good effort but never really created much.

Gonzales (6) - Good pace, Poor ball control at times though.

Crouch (7) - Holds the ball up well, good effort and good goal.

                Subs

Gerrard (6) - Lifts the team with his energy.

Alonso (6) - Misplaced a few passes but stil a class act

Aurilio (6) - Did ok at left midfield, almost scored.

Bellamy (8) - Caused problems and made the goal.

                Sinamo-Pongolle (6) - Didnt have match time

Man of the match - Sissoko

I think some extra credit should go to whoever kept Drogba so quiet.

Momo was excellent, motm. If you look at the fact that he was basically joined in midfield by 3 wingers it's even more amazing that he took to the entire Chelsea midfield like a wrecking ball.

Gonzo and Pennant didn't do too much but they gave us a good shape.

Zenden wasn't that bad but he's clearly at a much lower level than our other 3 central midfielders.

Crouch was poor but popped up with a good goal at the right time - I hope this is the start of a great goalscoring season for him.

Bellamy looks like a future cult hero.

Momo was the star. I wish Shev had joined us instead of that sourpuss Jose.

momo definately man of the match, the only word you can use to describe him is awsome.
as for the rest of your markings i would have marked everyone one marking up plus zenden was better than average.

Agree with most of the points made. I do think Zenden was ok he is just a different player to Xabi thats all. He can be a compliment just not the main guy. He cant be a replacement for Xabi he would be serviceable playing with him. I also think he should be out on the left anyway in a competiton with Gonzalez. By that I mean, at least to me, he doesnt seem to have the range of passing that others have. Seems to be a player that when he has the ball his passing is to players who are close, he doesnt have the defence splitting passes in him.
                          Rafa please get me.....

Gonzalez I felt at times tried to do a little too much. When he tried to take it on he more often then not lost out but when he got the cross in it was more often then not dangerous.

Still, he'll improve, good options on the left we have now. Pennant and Finnan seem to have a good understanding already which is a good sign for the right hand side.
