I dont know who Rafa is really after signing and neither does anyone on this site as far as Ive seen. In fact, we dont even know how much cash we have to spend.
I'd sign Owen as he's a proven scorer, would settle at the club without a doubt and he was also trained at our academy which helps with the new ruling. He would also keep our two most important players extra happy at the club. Plus hes English.
Not many players can guarantee the above. If he passed a medical and if Rafa wants him then I'd be happy. Plus he would help with selling shirts in asia and othe places as hes a well known player.
Yes I'd like Villa and Eto'o, but whos to say they will leave or want to come to Liverpool, or even England for that matter.Forwards.......

I doubt that Owen will sign this summer at least not as the only big striker signing. That would be to risky. No one knows how fit he will be. The reports from Newcastle is that he is as quick as before but that is in training and not even in full training yet.
Rafa will be as interested as anyone else to see how Owen will progress after his injury.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Very well put.

straight swap would be more like it, only because of Owens recent injury record, id say swap plus 2-3mOriginally posted by rage View Postbellamy plus 9 million for owen is bad business in my opinion. In this day and age bellamy is worth 8-10 million. Owen is not a 17-19 million pound player, even without his season long injury.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Owen was a £25m+ player before his two injuries. That is what you will have to pay for a world class goalmachine. Now after his injuries then half of that is probably what he is worth IMO.
If he is fit then his value will go up again. There isn't that many players out there that can guarantee you 15+ league goals every season.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

i'd swap if offered, maybe even pay 2 or 3 million on top as bazza says but honestly i wouldn't want to dent our transfer budget on owen. If fit we all know what he is capable of no doubt. My reluctance over owen is that he shafted us twice!
So if owen comes in for bellamy i still think we're a striker short. Thoughts?

If Owen replaces Bellamy then we would replace a striker with another striker but I agree with you about that I don't want us to spend big on him and that it would be strange to welcome him back after what he did when he left for Real.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

Depending on who came in instead...Originally posted by Slim View PostSetting the Owen issue aside, am I the only one who wouldn't be that bothered if Bellamy left? He hasn't really pulled up any trees for me.
Anyway, he's not going anywhere it seems - from the BBC gossip page:
Liverpool have turned down a £7m bid from Aston Villa for Craig Bellamy and have told the striker he has a future at Anfield. (Daily Mirror).
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.
