I don't know. We played some very good, attacking football, but, even as a little'un, I can remember us having some very obvious deficiencies in defence. Also, re:the Premiership improving, Man U were fantastic during that time (*baulks*) , I think if you compare their side then to theirs now I don't think you would have much difference in quality.

yup, I remember whenever we had to defend a freekick or corner, it was very nerve racking.

Apart from Mark Wright our defenders of that time were absolutely shocking mate. Babb (especially) and Scales were massive disappointments. We all saw how bad Kvarme was, complete pub player. Never rated Steve Harkness. McAteer had no brain - clueless, like Baros without the talent. Bjornebye couldn't defend - though he was better than Julian Dicks who was the biggest waster ever (FACT) and Razor was a liability truth be told. Christ our second best defender was Matteo and he was barely mediocre.

We had the best midfield and strikers of the time and we wasted them. I will never get over that period of our history. We pissed it away big time.
