haven't really seen anyone mention his performance yesterday. I must admit i was very surprised to see him starting...has he even played a preseason game yet? Rafa must rate him to start ahead of Sami in a game against Chelski.

I thought he did really well, especially considering who he was up against.

Drogba didnt win many headers, due mainly to Agger breathing down his neck whenever he got near it. He was also quite composed on the ball, a few of his long passes didnt come of....but that will come with games. He has the vision to spot the pass, which is the key.

Well done Danny, build on this performance and you will be starting regularly.

i think he suffered from the goal but sheva was carra's man for that move and it was just a great goal

i think his performance was every bit as good as momos and more important. the ongoing success of lfc depends crucially on maintaining the quality of defence that hyppia has provided. I was genuinely worried as to how wed achieve this - especially after seeing "the drill" in action but now i'm not. agger looked the part against the worlds best striker. we should back him to grow into sami's boots.

I actually read an interview with him once where he talked about his tattoes.
He's got so many that he looks like a moving painting when he's naked.

The big one on the right shoulder is a viking with a Hebrew saying that goes something like this: "Remember man, You will die" - meaning that you have to live your life every day.
And that's also why it says "Mors Certa, Hora Incerta" on his back - "Death is certain, time is uncertain" (Sorry for my translations...)

Besides those he's got chinese and tribal signs, "1984" (his birth year) and "Marco" and "Stephanie" (his brother and sister)

As bonus info I can tell you that he wants more tattoos in the future and actually plans on learning the trade himself...

Great photo of the squad that.

What I like about Agger is his composure in posession. Instead of trying to play a killer long ball all the time, he just plays a simple short pass, which makes us look in control and makes the opposition sit back a touch.

My only gripe with Sami in his time at the club has been that he looks too nervy in posession at times, and tries too many aimless long balls when a simple pass is needed, and Agger provides that.

I expect Agger to start next time against Chelsea too - I think Rafa has noted that on occasion Hyypia (for all imperiousness!) has had problems in trying to deal with Drogba.

I still expect Hyypia to start the majority of games this season, but it's nice that we have two potentially very good, very young CBs.

Agreed, from what I saw Agger didn't put a foot wrong. Very encouraging, and makes you realise that Rafa oviously rates the lad if he waited 6 months before signing him, and also sticking him in the deep end after missing a lot of the pre-season games...

I think Hyypia has dealt with Drogba VERY well.

Don't think we can take a lot out of that horror performance at Anfield last season because he was sick! We had no cover at the back and Rafa had no choice but to play weary Hyypia. That cost us the game in my opinion...

It won't happen again this season though, AggerDoo and Paletta will be more than able back-ups.
